Hi Phil, yeah, fine bikes don't have holes in the cylinder barrels necessarily

Bob Mac raced one as you know, and there were 3 Germans (Butz, Raab, Ilmberger, the latter purchasing his bike from one of the other 2 gents eventually) who got hold of these bikes, although Butz admitted that a Britsh single would have been the better choice due to the delicate maintenance and poor reliability of the twin, at least in the hands of a privateer

That wall was good as all you had to do was to stick your ticket in a bag and throw it over a few times, much cheaper day out for all that way

I can remember Jim at the hairpin at Mallory now( we didn't know it was Jim at the time

) We always thought he'd got the best place to watch so we ended up marshaling which was pretty good except when 6 bikes come at you at once.

Always worth having someone watch the track to warn you of a wayward bike though

I'll have a book Jim please, should be lots of Yam twin stuff there. I sent you a message on FB. No rush at this end

A rare shot indeed.
I'll have a tenner on Digger for the rider, Japan for the country and 1985 for the year. It's an NS/RS500. There are spectators, so it's a race rather than a test,.
The livery rings a very vague bell to me, but I don't think it ever surfaced in Europe.

Yes, the bike as delivered to me was right shift and the owner wants it left shift. Cases have been milled off in the shift shaft oil seal area and welded up flush and in any case the chain run is right in the way of the shift shaft if it was to exit LHS. So I am playing with an over the top system at the moment but not happy with it right now so have a couple of other ideas I am playing with. There's other bits to finish, screen, seat pad, 2T tank and feed, front mudguard but other bikes have priority at the moment. More piccies soon.

Check my post earlier... I asked Peter and it's Gardner at the Swann Series in 85...he never ran 6 in GP's thinks Peter too
