Nice one Russell, you've been lying pretty low, but you're back with a vengeance ! Is that Bill Smith on the H1R in the background ? And by way of a segue, Dave Croxford will be demoing the Cosworth Challenge at the Pukekohe Classic Festival in Februaru 2009, Rod Tingate will be demoing the Konig, and Kevin Schwantz will be RACING a 500 Manx, should be fun. Coop on the Man of the Year Seeley leading Croxford (Oakley Seeley?) at Oulton Park would be my guess.

Hi Chaps, not one of mine - nicked from a mag. It is Oulton Park, '71, and I too was thinking it was Bill Smith watching from the sideline. Cooper's Seeley is the famous Mk 1, while Crockett is on the then latest Mk 4 ? 'factory' Seeley. If your going, enjoy Pukekohe GD.

Ray Pickrell, Crockett and with his back to the camera, Seeley. If the 'ol brain cells are still working, at least one of those 'works' bikes was sold for £800 at the end of '71. Thinking hard now: it was the 500, almost certainly the bike picured here with the full fairing (kinda obviously). I think the other one is the 636cc G50.

+ of course , the Phil Read -Castrol van in the background
Not going to Pukekohe this time Russell, we have historic nats coming up in 2 weeks here at Barbagallo,Western Australia, plus the Phillip Island Classic in January, that should about tidy up the race budget. Is that John Williams in the light brown shirt chatting in the pits ?

Hi GD,

I don't think so, he wasn't entered that meeting, but the profile face in between him and guy in blue jacket (Frank Perris?) beside Pickrell, is Barry Sheene.

I think everbody is enjoying picblancs's pictures. It would be great if they could be published in a book.
Car racing fans are lucky to be able to buy the series published by Veloce: "Those were the days" with volumes, each ca 95 pages of seventies racing on Chrystal Palace, Brands Hatch and Oulton Park.

We are indeed, especially wonderful shots such as this - it could only be Britain at that time and that damp Norfolk wind can almost be felt.

Do you have the progamme Graham ? If so, be interested to know why the different numbers, since Croxford should have been on both.

Hi Russ, I do have the programme, yes strange isn't it, but he did indeed ride these two different numbers, but he wasn't the only one to do so, a quick look through, and Ditch & John Cooper also rode different numbers, probably lots of others too!?
Re Barry, I am sure its him Russ?
Bill Smith you think? I wasn't convinced it was Frank Perris myself.

Just noticed the Brands Hatch Model Shop sticker on the fairing of the EMC, trying to remember who else had sponsorship from them, there were a few riders in the eighties.

For LennyL here are some photos from Wroughton in 1980 - I only had an Instamatic then so didn't bother with trying action shots. I posted some others earlier in Pt.1 of this thread, of the Difazio-Konig and the Unorfodox outfit.
Later that day it rained and rained and rained.............

Hi Paul, don't recognise too many in the first pic, but the three bikes below are;
#36 Gary Pococks
Black red and yellow TZ 250 F (Non power jet carbs and shorter mufflers) belonged to Neil Carbis
#62 RG Mk3? belonged to Brendan McEnna
Propably Bob Eva's black 250 TZ behind Brendan's bike

Just checked an old programme, it was Earl Shilton. He now owns the electo-plating business after his dad retired.
My dad last caught up with him at Les Burgan's funeral, but has spoken on the phone a few times since.
Talking of his old gang, his usual mechanic was Dave Hill who was to become a decent national rider himself in the eighties.

I've seen Brendan since then Nigel, he came up to me at Silverstone when I was mechanicing for Scott. We had quite a long chat, he was still in the same place & working at the same place then.

Yes gentlemen, Amaroo 1973. I too think its probably Dave Burgess GD, but 1 is definitely Atlee. It's from the cover of a programme, do you rekon it looks slightly staged?
