Judging by what seems to be an "en" at the end of his name on his back, the obvious other choice of the time would be Hyvarinen, although I seem to remember Eero used a red Nava 1 , while Pekka had a blue one . Oh, well....

Laurie has it turned out beautifully with a large, sexy fairing and finished in gunmetal grey, and he rides the wheels off it, regularly whipping most of the Manxes and G50s in Premier 500 or Period 3, Classic 500 or whatever they're calling 1962 cutoff this year. He wasn't at the Historic Nationals in Perth last weekend, as his wife has an eye problem that needs to be addressed, but is normally at all big classic meetings and goes hard, it's great to have him back racing and I just wish that more racers of the past would come and have a gallop with us, there's no pressure or expectation, and I'm sure they'd love getting back on for a squirt once more just for fun, can you hear me Jeff and Stu ??? cool.gif

"can you hear me Jeff and Stu", sorry same as when my wife talks i have selective deafness.
Once retired always retired. I see Rob Hinton a bit and know that it still hurts when you fall off and we ain't getting any younger.

Fair enough buddy, but Rob has only had a couple of biffs in the last couple of years because he's still bloody quick ! Nevertheless, lately we have been graced with the presence in classic racing ranks of Wayne Gardner, Mal Campbell, Bill Horsman, Robbie Phillis, Rod Tingate, Ginger Molloy who's never retired, and of course Sheeney, so even if you don't pull a set of leathers on, just come out for a couple of beers and a giggle......surely no harm can come from that..... wink.gif

Know he had a hand in Korkie Ballington“s world titles, and maybe a few more. Anyone?

Is this by any chance Stuart Shenton as a lad? It's a 'snatch' from a 1975 film on the TT and the bike is Mick Grant's Kawasaki H2R. Apologies to all concerned if it's not....

It is in fact Nigel Everett, Mick Grant's long serving spannerman who I had the pleasure of working with in the Boyer Kawasaki Team of 1975. I believe he is now involved full time in restoring race bikes.

Oh yes, of course it is! Thanks for reminding me that I'm getting senile!!
Mr Plug
Yendor, a few more shots of your fellow Boyer Team members from the same 1975 film. Who do you recognise (apart from Mick!)?

For non-TT anoraks, 1975 was an important year for the TT AND the Boyer Team, because Mick Grant did a good job smashing SMBH's 8-year old lap record.

Well the one with the curly hair looks suspiciously like me when I still had curly hair. What film is it by the way. is it readily available?
I think the guy with the beard was in fact the Girling suspension rep as we had them put together some longer units to try and absorb some of the bumps!!

Hi Sterling, he was on record as claiming he had zilch mechanical ability, although I suppose that wouldnt neccessarily mean he couldn't relay info for setting the bike up.

I only went to a few bike meetings, luckily one was in 1967 when he was on the 250-6 Honda, he made evryone else look like beginners! He must have been a bit like Ronnie Peterson, who could never set his car up properly, copied Emerson's set up often and then beat his grid time lol.gif

I miss the old days, I guess that why I frequent this place, but it is all so commercial now, nobody is approachable, cubic money in the paddock, motorhomes with awnings, hospitality chefs, a load of bull if you ask me, I would rather the paddock with the scaffold sheds and coorugated tin covers than modern day circuits, I guess I am a child of the '60s cool.gif
