Hi,

I can't spell his name, but something like Peter Balash or maybe Petr ?? he is from Slovakia. Think he is on a Jawa roflmao.gif
I did some Internationals in Czeoslovakia back then and he always did good, he also did a lot of dealings you gave him tyres and parts and he would pay in Dollars and Bohemia Crystal..

Good times

Here is a picture from Karvina Czechoslovakia 1979, not sure who is on the Jawa, but I am sure that Peter Balash was there, he might have been on a Yamaha though.
It was a sad sad day during the 250 race I really good friend of mine Harald Johler from Germany lost his life together with a Czec rider, cant remember his name anymore.

This picture was taken by my wife just before the race, the guy behind Harald and me is Bengt Elgh from Sweden and the guy bending over the bike is Per Zachrisson also from Sweden.

It was a tough day and night after the stewards came and told us that Harald was dead, as my wife and I spend the weeks between a race in Holland and this one at Harald’s and his wife’s Gerda’s place in Weingarten in Germany.

I am really appreciating this forum where you can share good stories/pictures and unfortunately sad ones as well, I think it important never to forget the ones that paid the ultimate price for the sport that we all loved.

Off topic, but I spent a few days working at the Carlsburg Brewery mid 90's drunk.gif stoned.gif drunk.gif stoned.gif
The tea shack/smoke room had a huge american type fridge full of free beer!
You werent allowed to take it off site, so "Overtime" was pretty common roflmao.gif

On the way, I did get "On the spot fine" of £300 for breaking the speed limit though frown.gif
The kind officer said if I had been local, it would have been lost licence & re test blush.gif
Escorted to a bank ,travellers cheques in hand..... sad.gif lesson learned.....

It worked though I did drive more sensibly after that ;)

Did he retire (or whatever) pre 1980? (which is my personal "start point")
