Very nice Don . love.gif Looking at the width of the rear tire ( note your spelling lol.gif rolleyes.gif ) especially the one near to camera , I can remember in '79 or '80 having to file off the edge of the 'latest' slicks to get them in the swinging arm on our OW 31 eek.gif eek.gif wink.gif

Your back then!! clap.gif clap.gif indeed Leigh Notman is right, but who was his son in BSB/Supercup?

Andi Notman, and there was another brother, Luke? possibly (put my programme box away!) both started off on Aprillia superteens, through 125GP and then on to the diesel classes.
TeeZed
Hi Guys,

Here is 11 of the 564 Rottweilers ever built:

This photo was taken October, 2007 at Barber Motorsports (Alabama). From what I understand, several more are undergoing rebuild and will be back on the track in 2009. smile.gif For some reason the TZ500 which was also there is not in this picture.

Hi Nigel,

He is a good friend and a great rider on a Rottweiler. I will not pass judgement on his choice of leathers. biggrin.gif

My understand of the Linto engine was the way the crankshafts were connected with a mechanical coupling, this was the weakest part on the engine design and used to fail on a regular basis.

Sound like a good engine concept at the time, couple two competitive singles together, but as time showed this problem stopped them being a competitive race bike, and along came faster and more reliable models and two stroke started be both faster and more affordable for many riders.

Murray

Rediscovered some further info on the Linto: yes, the two crankshafts were keyed together through a big central primary drive gear which was prone to failing ; Jack Findlay discovered this when a key sheared, locking the gearbox at around 140mph. Apparently engine valves also broke on a regular basis. Later it was disovered that around 80% of the factory stock of primary gears and perhaps valves had not been hardened propely ! Yes Murray, potentially a good idea but it was tried too late.

Yeah, see what you mean - not much new in the world..... Was Tonti involved in the V twin Ducati engine design, or have I made that bit up? Stu, did Steve Ellis ever talk about his adventures with the Linto?

A lovely looking bike, minimalistic. Such a shame they didn't live up to expectations. I recall an article on the Linto history about a year ago in Classic Racer mag, if anyone is interested.

Agree with that one, EB... there's a couple of bits of audio of the Linto in the "Continental Circus" video featuring Jack Findlay... and a shot of him after the thing locked up and put him through the screen at 140 mph...

Russ, I think I know what the problem is!

At the top right of the screen, immediately below the ad, there's a row of links, starting with "User CP" and ending with "Search BB". Click on "User CP", and then you'll find another row of options: "My vB Home" etc. to "Private Messaging". Click on the third from left, "Edit Options". There will now be several rows of options, and the first one is called "Invisible Mode?". Yours is probably on "yes", when it should be "no". Click on "no" and everything should be fine, and Phil will be able to see you lurking!

User CP => Edit Options => Invisible Mode? => "no"
GD66
Good pic, Steve..... would that be a father/son duo who pressed on a bit from there...?

May be you think it doesn't matter? but if it is an authentic ex Sheene TR750 then why go to all the trouble like this and not get it spot on!?
If its not a Sheene bike then why pretend it is?
Controversial? possibly??, and in no way do I mean to decry the standard or quality of the work done, (it looks great) I am just wondering why its not been done right?
Sorry!
