A couple of recent ( well, a year old....) photos of Pat here :

Good to see him in a crowd , taking part in a public event. He seems to be doing as well as can be expected , considering the seriousness of his injuries.
As to what may have happened in '78 , I think that he might well have pipped Kenny Roberts for the title that year . Not so much because of his two years of experience of the Continental Circus ( I think Roberts had enough talent to compensate for that ... ) but the Suzuki GB team was probably a stronger and "richer" outfit that KR's team which was basically Kel Carruthers and himself with three bikes ( a 250 , a 500 and a 750....)
But who am I to speak...maybe when Stu wakes up down under, he'll give us some more valid insight...if I'm not mistaken, he and Pat started their Grand Prix carreer on the very same day of March 1976 , on a cold and gloomy Bugatti circuit at Le Mans ( and I was there

, inside the virage du musée, the loooong left hander after the first hairpin )
