Although I posted this on the forum last year, TeeZed Don might like to see it! Check out the speed of those good old 350's!

Yes Barry , the speed of the 350's was something else I think .And this was in the days of the C/D/E --before the up-rated F/G models --well screwed together or what !!!wink.gif

When I read through and saw hi-level pipes, I immediately thought RG500, but you beat me to it. :\ I was thinking, best of both worlds, hi and low level pipes. up.gif

Hi Barry,

Do you think that is right for a C/D/E 350 TZ ("1H4" cylinders and heads)? WOW! I've never seen over 145 MPH on my ol' TZ350E. Guess I have some work to do. wink.gif

Are you talking about Mr Sheene perchance ??I've been unlucky enough to be behind them through scrutineers tongue.gif
GD66
I was indeed Phil, Don gazumped me while I was posting. That 1979 Silverstone race vid features Sheeney having a big tanty at the scrutineers about the clearance between his clipons and then fairing. We knew his longterm mechanic, Ken Fletcher, and whenever Sheeney would be blowing up on camera, there would be Ken in the background with a wry grin....wink.gif

You better make that 1977 no Brit GP in 1976, and that shape seat was on Barry's RG in 1977 never in 1976, I dont want to appear picky, but as its you Phil I will!!!! tongue.gif rolleyes.gif wave.gif

I always wondered about those reverse cylinder TZ 250s....Do they suffer with alot of trouble of scoring in the barrells? I mean the only ones I have seen without a fairing have open carbs right behind the front wheel! all that muck being thrown up!!!

Yes and Kawasaki might retired as well;
Leggy
Good innit?! lol.gif

It'll have to go back to cheap bikes with 4 cylinders and 500cc and blokes building them in little workshops.

MotoGP can dissappear up its own arse for all I care - 17 riders on a grid....what a joke!

Thank you Honda (you're the main culprits) for leaning on the rulemakers to the extent that its going to kill the only sport i've ever been interested in....
picblanc
Superstock? look good, sound good, and relatively cheap!!

I'm stumped by your latest WWW Graham! If it were not for the initials, I would have said Rob Vine (yellow Maxton?). The only MH's I can remember are Malcom Heath and Mick Heatherhill (but too early for him). Say Andy, Adrian Marsh was a good guess! (Did Mac Hobson never race solos? lol.gif ). Well known 250/350 did you say?

The only rider I can think of with those initials is Mick Higgins (the name on the fairing is a bit blurred, but it looks a bit like his name). I have always thought of him as a 125 rider. Would I be right in thinking that he rode a smaller bike in about 80/81?

clap.gif clap.gif Mick Higgins is right Andy, these pics are from 1977 & 1978, I dont know about him going back to a 125 though?

We discussed this rider last year (or even the year before!) - so I'll not spoil it for the rest!

Hi Leggy,

Sorry it has taken me so long to reply. Your observations are correct:

I would not even consider riding around the paddock without the lower on. If you see how the lower is made you would see that there is little chance of sucking in crap. If you like, I'll post a picture. smile.gif

Hi Leggy,

This is a little difficult to show, but I'll try.

First off, there are no openings on the front of the lower. It seals right up against the radiator. There are two "vents" on each side of the fairing. the lower one on the right is to cool the clutch. The lower one on the left is to cool the ignition. The upper two (larger) vents are "ducted" 90 degrees (towards the bottom on the fairing, not directly at the carbs) and have screens in them to catch the rocks. All of the crap thrown up by the front tyre hits the front of the fairing. It's really a 21 year old "air-box" design which works quite nice.

Don
TeeZed
This may give you a better idea about what I'm trying to say:

The upper, larger vents are ducted downwards to feed the Mikuni VM38 carbs on my TZ250U (1988). As you can see, the front of the lower is completely closed.

Don

No 50 is Phil Bosco, TZ750 1977, sadly no longer with us.

Im missing something, is this a restored 250 or a retro pic? If its restored its bloody beautiful..if not, nice bike anyway lol.gif
GD66
I could be wrong, Stu, but it's my understanding that this is one of Don's set of yummy two-strokes he still gallops regularly. And if you haven't had a peek yet, it's worth a trip to the NATS site, but be warned....there are Rottweilers ! No doubt Don can confirm the time line on the pics, but I never know what time it is in the USA, whenever I try and phone there it's about half past nineteen, two days ago..... drunk.gif
