WWW? Found this while looking for piccies in next post.
OK, so I know its not a stroker but a diesel, and I think it's pretty, but has anyone got any good pictures of my XR55, the 1987 GSXR750F1 bike I looked after for Paul Iddon to do F1 WC, British championship etc? I have been looking through all my stuff and don't seem to have any and I know I took some detail pics but can't find them anywhere. I'm particulalry after paddock or static shots, fairings off if poss. Ta very muchly.

Oh Paul am I right in thinking it's the Cosworth ??
Errrrrr perhaps not after seeing Essexboy's answer
ISTR Alan Cathcart had quite a bit to say about it in a positive frame of mind. Maybe Lambo can cop a naked pic of it at Pukekohe in Feb ?
I was at school and studying O level photography which included processing our own film and printing. So piccie quality is not so good. Sorry.
Here it is dressed, best I could do at the time. Both will be from Brands.

it did evolve into the Quantel bank- rolled Cosworth a bit later after Norton demise.
i actually think i like it in its earlier form as seen here, bit of a dogs dinner of old and new thinking
And here it is, erm, racing.
How close do you want to get for that photo?
One of them 4 stroke diesel things. One of the most evocative sounds, no?
Left a load for you guys to peruse, I'm away for a day or two. Might be able to log on this evening though. Here's two more. WWW? Got some older ones in higher quality I will put on the older Forum tomorrow.
Haven't got any paddock shots of Big Id's bike, only these.

Hi Paul,
I will start with the easy one, it is the old pit in Anderstorp Sweden, 1984 or 85?
Cheeers,
Leif
I've never been to Macau and I'm in the piccies. So not Macau.
I have been to Anderstorp, 3 times I think.
Any more info from anyone?

Rear disc outboard of the sprocket?

Gearing changes must have been fun.
The onboard butty box is a neat mod, especially for those looooong races!!
Split sprockets? Just a thought and a question, not a statement.

Paul Iddon.
Yes it's Paul Iddon, who through his sponsor down in Kent, had earned or been promised, a ride on the 500GP bike. This was Pauls' one outing on it in 1986, at Anderstorp. While Lewie was the number 1 rider I swopped from working for Lewie to working for Paul for the weekend on one of the carbon SQ 4's, can't remember if it was reed valve though, I'll look that up later.
Paul finished 15th, just behind Yatsushiro on a factory Honda. Paul caught him after the start and then duelled with him for the remainder of the race. Paul was less than 1/2 second behind Yats at the finish but a lap and a minute behind Eddie. Paul Lewis didn't run, crash in practice I think which delaminated some of the chassis. Or was that at Misano? Must dig out the records.

Paul, looking at the arrangement, wouldn't the disc/caliper still need to be removed even with a split sprocket? I'm just thinking of the work/time involved in changing gearing. The gearbox sprocket doesn't look very accessible either, can't see the chain adjuster, unless it's hidden by the disc. A strange set-up IMO.
Yeah, looks like a b****r to me as well, and as someone who made bits each year to make wheel changes faster, IOM races and long F1 races you know when we used to refuel and retyre, I would like to know how it works. Perhaps caliper comes off, two bolts?, disc comes off, four bolts? and then the sprocket as it may be held by the four disc bolts. A sort of dished sprocket on the outside of the swing arm? Just a thought, perhaps someone else knows or Peter is reading this forum??
