Hi All,

I'm desperately looking for some help, I will be traveling to Monza GP with my wife and it's my first time to Italy.

I have few Questions, I will be staying in Milan, so I will take the train to Monza for the weekend.

1. How frequent are the trains to Monza? and is it difficult to get a ticket? do I have to buy them from now?
2. How can I get to the circuit from Monza's train station?
3. Are there any lockers to put my bags in the train stations? i will be checking out the day of the race, then I will head directly to Rome after the race. which takes us to the next set of silly Qs;
4. The race starts at 14:30, and the train to Rome is at 19:00 from Milan, do I have enough time?
5. Can I go into the circuit with my bags?

Really appreciate your help.

Thanks in advance smile.gif

1. Can't remember how often the trains leave for Monza but there are plenty and very often.
2. You take a bus from the Monza station to the park where the track is except for Sunday (train leaves you at the track on the exit near Lesmo corners). Be prepared to walk LONG distances on Friday and Saturday as the park is quite big and the bus will drop you off very close to the park's entrance.
3. Don't know about the lockers as I didn't need them.
4. Last year the race started at 2 pm if I remember correctly and was over around 3:30pm. You need to walk to Lesmo and take the train to Stazione Centrale (Milan). We stayed after the race walking the main straight and hanging out and we were back at the train station around 6 pm so you should be more than ok. If you are concerned then just leave as soon as the race finishes but you will miss the fun of running to the podium.
5. They might search your bags but you should be ok.

You will have a blast!

I am so jealous!!!

Trains from Stazione Centrale leave for Monza railway station about every ½ hour on the Friday and Saturday. (Don't know how frequent on Race Day but I would imagine they put on extra.) It takes about 15 minutes. You can buy your tickets from the ticket office inside the station or there are machines with instructions in several languages. You must 'validate' i.e. 'punch' your ticket before you get on the train. The validation machines are on the platform & are yellow. Sometimes I've got the Metro to Sesto & caught the bus as the bus drops you close to Porta Vedano.

On Race Day there is a free train from Stazione Centrale to Lesmo which takes about 30 minutes. I usually get to the Stazione in time to get the first train which last time set off at 07:30. This is the only way I've travelled on race day.
2. How can I get to the circuit from Monza's train station?

There is a free bus service which runs all day from Monza train station to the circuit.
More info on here http://www.monzanet.it/doc_aggiornati/gpf1...foutili_eng.pdf

I've never looked for them but Stazione Centrale is a huge station & I'd be surprised if they didn't have some sort of left luggage. But have you thought of asking your hotel if they'd keep your bags safe until you get back from the circuit?
4. The race starts at 14:30, and the train to Rome is at 19:00 from Milan, do I have enough time?

As you can see from the programme, the race starts at 14:00. The free train back is reliable so you should get back in time for your train to Rome. (Please don't sue me if you miss it!). Don't be tempted to book a taxi to get you back to Milan. I know several people who've done that in the past & after waiting around for an hour gave up as the taxi never turned up.
5. Can I go into the circuit with my bags?

Sorry don't know.

up.gif Hope you both have a wonderful time. Don't worry about getting lost/not knowing what to do. I went totally on my own for the first time in 2004 & I don't speak any Italian & I had no problem. There will be thousands of F1 fans in Milan & just ask.

There is an official Ferrari store in Milan. Go to Piazza del Duomo, stand & face the front entrance to the Duomo, go down the left of the building & the address is Piazza del Liberty. http://www.ferraristore.com/e-shop.des/pag...,store_locator/

You can buy Ferrari merchandise almost everywhere in Milan & Monza. The merchandise at the track is in Parco di Monza but actually outside the circuit. http://www.monzanet.it/documenti/piantaAutodromo.pdf The stalls run for about a mile from outside Ingresso Mirabello and along past Villa Mirabello. You will be able to get a flag!

I´m also going to Monza for the first time. I bought my tickets at Monzanet. Check out their site, there is some great info if you click on "Contacts" -> FAQ.

I hope to be there already on Thursday afternoon when you can do a free walk on the pits if you´ve got a weekend ticket.

You'll have fun... PLENTY of Finns... I felt as if I was in Helsinki at times. biggrin.gif

I also recommend walking to the the track at least once, from station, especially if it's nice weather. Takes 20-30 minutes, but you will meet many fans on the way, check out merchandise and parked Ferrari's on the way.

It's brilliant. Pit lane is open all afternoon & when they bring the cars out for scrutineering you can get close enough to touch them (or in my case kiss!)

OMG... I think this will be my pilgrimage. love.gif

Hmm, I just got an idea. I wonder if I should take my rollerblades with me to get quicker to the track. And would it be possible to rollerblade around the track on Thursday afternoon?

I don't think you'll be able to on the Thursday but definitely after the race. I've walked the track so you'll be able to rollerblade.

Kanzo, did you happen to bring wet weather wheels for your rollerblades? lol.gif

How was it otherwise?

Nope, just the ordinary slicks. tongue.gif
But I only rollerbladed on Thursday during the open pitlane day. I also found my way to the oval but found the surface really rough so it was hard not to stumble going around the lower parts of the banks.

The atmosphere was great for the whole weekend but I wonder why they cannot do something to the footpaths. Thousands of spectators must have ruined their shoes in all that mud. Especially the footpath from Lesmo station was in a horrible condition.

I expected to see many other Finns but not THAT many. We´re crazy people. And the race was crazy too. Vettel was brilliant! up.gif

Anyway, it was my first "live" race in 16 years (the last time was in 1992 in Hungary when Häkkinen was 4th in a Lotus) but I hope the next one will be sooner. smoking.gif

Good to hear that rain didn't ruin whole weekend. I guess it rains so rarely so they don't bother prepare for rain regarding footpaths. And with that amount of rain and people, I'm sure that there's nothing they can do really, it will be a mess anyway
