Just got back from Singapore last night.
It is a great venue for spectators. I sat in the grandstand opposite Kubica's pit and Webber's grid spot. Section 23. Higher section numbers in that grandstand would have been better as they would've given a better view of the cars exiting the last corner. Also higher elevations in the stands were better. I was in the third row.
The lighting was very good - positioned so there was no glare in spectators eyes. The temperature in Singapore is nearly the same day and night so it was very comfortable.
I walked the track during various practice sections and there are some good vantage points on being on the exit of turn one/entry of turn two. Can see the braking for turn one through to the exit of turn two.
I hired a Kangaroo TV for the whole weekend for Sing$150. (US$120). It was worth every penny. Excellent gizmo with world feed video and 5 or 6 incar video feeds, several commentary channels, team radio channels, many stat functions: sector times, leader board, gaps, pit stop information. Excellent value! Can't say enough good about it.
It's a first class city, excellent hotels, good dining with lots of diversity. Shopping - the wife was happy. The night race was nice because I could spend some time in the day doing tourist stuff with the wife and not have my time at the races squeezed. There were literally thousands of sidewalk cafes (every cuisine imaginable) at very reasonable prices. (US$3 lunch!) Apparently the natives, even the poorer ones, eat out most days.
Transport was good: subway, taxis, buses, water taxis. Besides that, it was easy to walk because the track is downtown near many of the major hotels.
I took a few days after the race to go into the jungle on borneo. (out of Sandakan in Sabah). Again it was very reasonable; about US$100 per day for full tour guide/hotel/food. Spent alot of time on the river looking at various animals (day cruise, night cruise, day trek). Crocs, pythons, monitor lizards, various monkey, rodent, snake and bird species. Very cool!

PS. I've been to the Monaco race (2005) and the Singapore one. IMHO the Singapore race is a better overall experience.
1. Singapore has more diversity of vantage points; varied grandstands but also for people wanting to walk the perimeter for a variety of vantage points during the race.
2. All hotels are within easy reach in Singapore. In Monaco, most people have to get back to Nice for a hotel. The pleasant parts of Nice are very small compared to the pleasant parts of Singapore.
3. Excellent food is cheap in Singapore but expensive in Nice and Monaco.
4. The night race leaves you time to be a tourist during the day in Singapore. Monaco gives you the Friday off so maybe that makes up for it.
5. The natives speak english unlike the french and monagasques who seem to abhore it.
6. Both venues have safety cars (as does Montreal) so that's a wash.
