Looks like the weather gods are with Hamilton again for Monza. Rain is called for Sunday!
Should be exciting, I can't wait. Does anyone remember the last time we had a rain race in Monza?

Oh no. More exciting racing, which means more opportunity to the stewards to fuck it up.

I will most likely miss the race, damn!
edit: checked the
live section, it really looks like a wet weekend!

A wet track at Monza would be short of insane, in a good way. If they can barely make it with the download levels of Spa, what do you thin will happen at Monza? Any misjudged braking or aquaplaining before a chincane can lead to a car under controle for hundreds of metres.
Bring it on.

If it is wet-
Lewis to spin on lap 3, stall @ 1st pitstop. fall back to 17th, then winning at the end.
Felipe will be average but end up with a podium and instead of people cheering his championship style consistency, they will simply moan he is slow in the wet.
Kimi will set 18 of the 20 fastest laps. But having qualified only 6th, finish 4th.
Webber will lead confidently for over 30 laps before his helmet flies off after a helmet strap failure.
Piquet will spin 3 times. On the 3rd time he will break his nose, have to pit, coincdentally just the right time to take inters and then finish 2nd as pitstops / safety car shuffles him to the front of the pack.

You forgot to add he will have the win taken away for splashing a steward.

Sorry for opening a discussion thread specificaly about "RAIN" in Monza. I am not interested in hypothetical championship tables like the one beeing discussed in the thread you referenced and started. Ever thought of staying out of threads that don't agree with you?
Excellent! Hopefully Massa and Raikkonen do an encore of their Silverstone performances to give the Tifosi some lovely 360 degree views of the car.
Hamilton wins but DQed after cutting a chicane to avoid a stationary car, the stewards decided he'd been advantaged by not crashing.

OK, if it rains, I'll have to amend my original McLaren 1-2 guess. Hamilton will still win but someone like Heidfeld could well beat Kovalainen to second.
Monza in the wet? Sounds a little dangerous at the start, with those chicanes and the possibility of anyone losing control in the pack. :\

I don't think it's ever properly rained at Monza come the Italian Grand Prix before. 2004 and 1981 are probably the closest you'll get, but it was neither very wet nor for very long.

If it rains then that is not the case. As its predicted that with Mclaren's kerb riding, engine power and aero are such that Ferrari cant do anything about it with cool teps+hard tyres.
Sure Mclaren seem to have good wet grip too but if there's a rainy quali and a rainy race then you can see almost anybody from the grid to win the race.
Even if Hamilton would stay on track, somebody might hit him from behind or he hits into some slower car while passing them. In other words, rain is a very big risk factor.

Why do I get the feeling that a number of safety car outings would totally ruin the race?
Orin that was wicked. Hey maybe it'll really happen. Knowing the stewards and the FIA anything is possible. The stewards together with Ferrari and the FIA proves to everyone that the world is full of possibilities. Hey if McLaren win then the stewards might even penalise them for having too much of an advantage in the wet over Ferrari. Wow if we were to kill everyone that hates Sunday's Stewards it would'nt be murder it would be genocide

HAHAHA new FIA rule no smiling or you get a 10sec stop go penalty LOL
I doubt it will rain. I live it up the road... the internet weather forecasts always predict rain at the moment, but it never happens.
Take last week as an example - I was expecting thunderstorms everyday, but we had brilliant sunshine (with a little cloud) every day.

After the first race of its implementation, the new rule will be adjusted to give the impression of unpredictability. The rule will now be: If a driver passes 3 track-side camera positions without giving a thumbs up, they shall receive a drive-through penalty. If the driver smiles at any point during this process he will have an immediate disqualification. At the disgust of the paddock, many team principles site that this rule will benefit the Finnish drivers more than any other. FIA investigation is underway.
hey a thought just came into mind. Yes To all of those Ferrari fans, McLaren did steal info pertaining to the Ferrari car and well we will not know if any advantage was given to McLaren in so doing, but, it seems as though Ferrari also stole some info from McLaren, some info pertaining to how to have as amny engine failures as possible. Unfortunately for the Ferrari team that info was about to be discarded by McLaren LOL,now one can wonder...

Spa was a fairly unique circumstance - rain only at the last 2-3 laps, when coming in to put proper tyres on isn't an option.
Look at Fuji last year or Silverstone this year - put the right tyres on and even in horrific rain, most drivers are fine...unless they're in a Ferrari.

with storms its ALWAYS hit and miss-since the back end of last week most forecasts have said there'd be a chance of rain on at least 1 of the 3 days,so in that sense its been pretty constant, and so its a bit hard to just dismiss it

They are making little use of it, surprisingly. No SC at Silverstone under horrible conditions, no SC at Spa when Räikkönen's car was in a dangerous position. Agreed with the first one but not so much with the second one. In Spanish TV De la Rosa immediately said "safety car, they'll bring out the safety car" but they didn't.

Wrong, half the field pitted for rain tyres, mostly to their benefit.
E.G. Bourdais was up around 3rd when the rain started, didn't pit, & finished 7th.
Heidfeld was in ??? but pitted for tyres and ended up in 3rd.

A weird season weather wise. In 2003 it was baking hot just about everywhere and this season its been very cool and wet at places not normally known for rain.
I think its going to be decisive for the championship.

I believe it's never actually rained during the race at Monza.
It was wet for the start of 2004, but wasn't raining.
I read somewhere today that the last wet race in Monza was in the 60`s?

It definitely rained during the 1981 race. Laffite, Cheever and Arnoux spun out at the Parabolica on consecutive laps. Without the midrace shower, it's not inconceivable that Jacques Laffite could've become France's first World Champion. So a pretty significant bit of drizzle, all in all.
