In view of the difficulties some teams are having with KERS, is it likely that its launch will be put off for a year?

My following remark is purely flippant:
If Ferrari are not ready, I'm sure it will be postponed...

Yeah, and next year if the teams with KERS beat the hell out of ferrari, because ferrari cant get there KERS working correctly, ban it.

Why delay? It's not compulsory so let those that can get it right use it, and those that can't will have to work harder.

Do Ferrari usually have problems with electronic systems, or is this jusy my prejudice of Italian car makers (having owned two Alfa Romeos, I can vouch for the dodgy electrics)?!
I'm still in a flippant mood!

As said above, if Ferrari are having trouble, and ask it to be postponed, im more than certain it will be.

It's all Ferrari's fault. Blame them for 9/11 when your at it as well. Hurricane Gustav...Ferrari's fault. Global warming...Ferrari's fault. Joseph Fritzel...Ferrari's fault. Why stop at that? Blame them for anything you like.

well your presence here would appear to be ferrari's fault.
but the reason it won't be postponed is down to max. it would be a disaster for him. last weekend works in his favour to take the pressure off him this weekend. and if you want a conspiracy i would plump for that reason over any other (excepting perhaps an unconscious bias throughout the fia/f1 against mclaren and pro ferrari, unconscious tho. i don't want to fathom it being conscious. but it would still stem from max either way, so more max's fault).

I don't understand why some teams try hard to postpone it and dertoy other's efforts, it's an optional feature, if they aren't smart enough to make it ready for melbourne then race with a non kers car and then when the stuff is complete introduce it properly.
Will it be possible to simply "buy" the system?
Say, Williams, with it's mechanical design, fails. Can they buy the electronic version from BMW or Toyota?
Or, if the mechanical version is better than what the others are developing, can they buy it from Williams?
If so, not being ready is no problem.

Dont know if it's possible to buy it directly from another team but i know that ferrari & renault will buy it from magnetti marelli

It's rather obvious why some would want to delay it. They can't get it to work and therefore don't want others to have an advantage over them.

Have the "if Ferrari haven't got it working it will be delayed" crowd learned nothing from the last few days?
All this alleged 'Ferrari bias' from the governing body is regarded as utter nonsense from the drivers (i.e. they thought Hamilton deserved a penalty, whereas many here believe the penalty was proof of Ferrari bias from the FIA).
The drivers have burst the bubble of the Ferrari-bias lie....when are some people here going to join them? Does it not make life tiring, as well as rather bitter?
For Theissen discussing a possible KERS postponement is pointless and unnecessary since the system isn't compulsory anyway.
Theissen: ''I don't know whether we'll be ready with KERS at the first race ourselves. If we're not, then we simply don't introduce the system. The regulations allow you to. For me the value of KERS doesn't go down when it's not introduced at the first races. It can still bring us something when we get it right towards the middle of the season.''
