Hi, Alonso's decision is close and it's a hard one to make, with his age he can't spend too many years at the back of the grid. This poll is about what would you do in his position with the data we know, not where do you think he will go or where do you want to see him.
With the information we have there are 5 posibilities:
Renault : stay 1 more year and see what happens in 2010 ¿ferrari?
Honda : Sign for 1 year and see if honda can make a podium-finisher car, if they fail you still can change.
BMW: Multi-year contract 2 or more years, bye bye ferrari.
Toyota: Same as BMW, lot of money for development... but
Williams: I think this is not an option, but it will also be multi-year.
----------------
RedBull: Really not an option as one of the main reason to leave renault is the engine.
Ferrari: Not an option for 2009
Toro rosso: They would not hire a experienced/expensive driver,
Mclaren: *******
Force india: ******
My vote goes for honda, they have the money and the people, branw wants him and there is the posibity of only 1 year, better this that stay in renault, they no money, no kers, an probably no flavio next year.

Clatter

At this time the only drive we know he has is with Renault. Everything else is just rumour which is not the same as having a choice.

I think he should stay put for the next year, this time, he has the advantage of actually working on the 2009 development, something he wasnt able to do last year.

Honor his contract.
All indications are, the decision will not be his.

If he has a contract with Ferrari for 2010 stay with Renault one more year.

BMW for 2 years with a performance clause that will let him either stay in a WDC competative BMW or else go to Ferrari when a seat ill free up.
As much as I like Renault (I am even wearing a 2006 Renault jersey as I type this) and want them to be on form again...I just cannot fool myself into believing it will happen. F1 is that much more boring without his character up front and battling for the WDC so the sooner he gets back the better.

Renault.
It was like this in 2003/2004: No choice for being a winning champion. But little by little, driver and team, got it in 2005. Team-Spirit and Team-Work. Renault won't be a winning team in 2009. But likely it will be a winning team in 2010.
After that, Alonso could go to Ferrari.

Williams option is the same as Force india.
BMW. Reanult IMO won't go anywhere forward next year.

Quit racing on a high note, before the Newly God-sent robs him all face.
Just teasing the last three remaining Fernanda fans.

BMW definitely.
Ferrari means he'd have to wait another year and that isnt guaranteed as they may continue with their current drivers beyond 2010 or introduce vettel or kubica to the team as Alonso isnt necessarily their first choice.
Add to that the fact that BMW have improved every year and achieved all their goals. Their next goal is to be in the championship battle. Also BMW seem to have a handle on KERS where Ferrari seem to be struggling.
BMW would put him in the battle for the championship IMO

One more year at Renault.
I can't seen any of those teams being imediately competitive as he'd like, and in none would he have the exact same status he has at Renault.

If the BMW seat really is available to him, he should go there. As Gerry pointed out they seem to be on top the kers thingie. If that seat isn't available then he should likely stay put. Renault aren't as bad as all that. I think they have every chance of beating toyota. The Honda seat, which btw IS clearly available to him, just seems like a helluva gamble to me: they may come up with a good car but the ones they've built these past two years are about as bad as a factory team can get.

2009 Renault
2010 Ferrari, so 2009 is the last try for Hamilton to win ;)

with the new regs and all, its a crapshoot who will come out on top. we may well have big inseason form changes too.
he says he is happy at renault, hes "the man" there, getting paid a shitload of cash aprently, why risk going somewhere else for a year, and maybe being unhappy like macca turned out tobe.
