There were moments when they were really trying...but I'm not sure if I saw a whole "hot lap"...but in sections, yes, some were really going for it...

And frankly, it looked dangerous as hell......they ALL HAVE BALLS........ smile.gif

Do you think they will start the race on Sunday if the conditions are the same as those last 20 minutes of first practice?
fnz
Can't imagine race being started if the weather is like last 20 mins. FP1 got red flagged anyway!
Don't forget the cars are running in extreme low downforce config!

No, Lewis doesn't! He didn't dare to come out from the pits. tongue.gif

No way in hell.........not only was the rain monsoon Sepang style...but it was DARK.....lots of trees around the track,a nd thick thick thunder clouds, made for some interesting views.......on some camera shots from on car, it looked like night...but of course, there is no lighting on the track as there will be for a night race, so it was very dangerous looking....

I am sure there will be some amazing photos from this practice session, never seen anything quite like it....though Sepang 2001 rings a bell.......

It was really raining man......lol....

There are lights on the straight, SB even asked to turn them down a little as he was blinded by them (rain - light combo)

True, sky was very very dark... under bridge especially

The drains failed monumentally. I saw flooding in the McLaren, Williams and Ferrari pits ( and I assume there is others as well )

If that happened at Silverstone - Bernie would be screaming for blood.

LOL. Why would I need to get over myself? I'm really feeling rather relaxed, whereas you seem to be a tad on the uptight side. Had a difficult morning?

When he goes, it will end....but I'm affraid that the truth is the truth....Smax is a laughing stock to many, and he will be the but of jokes until he fades away......

Still, I am looking forward to Second Practice............with less rain hopefully.....it was pretty to watch....but I can see rain looking out my window here in Britain......I want to see the cars and drivers doing what they do... smile.gif

fnz - Those times were done on a dry track with partially wet parts in some places, on inters. Vettel did one lap on dry tyres and was 10 secs off the pace (couldn't stay on track in the wet spots) and pitted straight away. Then the rain came. cool.gif

with the ammount of rain that fell any drain would have failed

A bit wet yes, but as one might figured out when two Force india and one Honda are topping the list, some 3+ seconds ahead of everyone else, there might be some reason for it. wink.gif

How would they prevent that on any track I wonder?

After all they wheel in the cars into the pits without having to lift the car over a step. And drainage not being able to get the water quickly away. Well what happened on some Asian tracks. And even at Silverstone, Bernie didn't complained about it when cars aquaplanned because the drainange couldn't get the water away quick enough.

The track has been declared wet for this session.
No rain is expacted for first 20 min

Track looks in perfect "Hamilton" condition at 15 mins past the hour.

"the tractors are out again with blowers attached at the Roggia chicane, as they continue trying to dry out the circuit ahead of the practice session."

Hmm. I don't like that one bit. I

The circuit is either too dangerous to drive on ( in which case you don't start a session ) - OR - it's wet, damp, tricky, but you let people get on with it. Artificially pushing the track conditions closer towards dry at ANY point beyond taking it from undriveable to wet-but-driveable is totally out of order. Ferrari fan track marshalls desperately trying to make the track suit Ferrari more than McLaren is frankly - not acceptable. Circuits should not be 'dried out'.
chesterfield
Im not too sure it matters on the practice session, by having a wet track, and trying to create a dry track, they are allowing the drivers to practice in various conditions so that they can adjust their driving accordingly.

I think its a very safety concious decision. Perhaps if it was dry, but heavy rain predicted for the race, they could water the track?

Surely allowing the drivers to experience the track in as many different conditions as possible before the race is a good thing to prevent acidents, run offs and a dissapointing race for all, regardless of which team in the field you support. Also makes it safer for the drivers I suppose?

I wouldnt read any conspiracy into drying the track - as long as they dont start interfering with the track during the race.

What a strange way to see the actions, which happen at any track I have sofar been to see racing live:

SPA
Nurburgring
Monza
Montreal

If you don't know, it is much much better to just not say anything.

The 1ste session was stopped because of the weather, so thats why they probably did it. Tired of those Ferrari story's !
