welcome all. 2 more needed one renault and one Force India
Couple of things on the new F1 2009 series:
1. How come I was only able to have one run in warm-up?
2. Am I right in thinking that you now need to set which lap you intend to pit on prior to qualifying (fuel load related)?
Breadmaster
Apr 7 2009, 10:41
Dank,
warmup is now 1 lap to reflect the limited sunday morning warmup in real life
if you qualify in the top 10 then your first stop is locked (like the F1'05 season rules) if you are outside the top 10 then you can do whatever you like.....
Thanks for clearing it up. Still ok to use just hard tyres through each race though I guess?

I think so, which it should not be. Should be as in real life mandated that we have at least 1 soft and 1 hard (or whatever they call the compounds).
Force India took a glorious 13th in qualifying, the surprise of the season already.

Dan,
yeah, Jules hasn't locked down the tyre usage yet although I guess this is just a matter of time!
Good to see Red Bullog back!

Nonsense, not when I came within a gnat's what-nots of officially getting a wheelbarrow into Q3.

I stand corrected.
So we can race Wheelbarrows as well now.
How cool is that.

with the 97 game over, Congrats Zippel
who would be interested in an indy megarace, they are infuriating as hell but only last 6 days and we wouldn't really need to fill it to have a decent race?
Alternatitively another series?
Someone else would have to start it as i already own the 2009 private game.

There's a F1 2006 private game started, #39700, which some of us who drove the 97-season already has joined. No password, do join. Several cars still available.

Wow, I've just noticed that I've got a star rating for the first time, and it's only 2/5! That despite the fact that as far as I remember, I'm yet to miss a single session, always post my setups on Team Talk even if my team-mate has KT, have got decent results in my championships so far (for a beginner, and save for my first two tough F1 '05 public games) and have never deliberately rubbed up any team-mate the wrong way? Is that the way ratings work in BATracer, do people 'gang up on you' by rating you poorly if they think you're threatening to be too competitive or something? Or are there just a few too many people who mistakenly think 1/5 is the 'top' rating as happens on Amazon reviews occasionally... very confusing.
Nasty McBastard
Apr 24 2009, 05:18
Star ratings are arse and probably not worth worrying about. Someone youve mildly annoyed, most likely without even realizing it will give you 1 star rather than man up and leave a comment.
The only things i worry about in a team mate are the sackee/sacker/awol counts, and the comments.
Dunno about everyone else though.
panzani
Apr 24 2009, 18:31
Like Nasty I don't care too much about the stars, Chicken. AWOL figures and Sacked count are more important, as well as the comments left. Stars system is open to abuse, imHo.
Some clans just decided to give 5 stars to every member and 0 stars to everybody else, I've heard. Dunno if it is true, but it is possible, anyways...

Many thanks, peeps.
BTW, anybody else reading this who's wavering... we've still only got 11 signed up to the private F1 2006 game, #39700, which LuckyStrike1 mentioned further up the page, so do sign up if you can. Mesa is especially eager for this one to go ahead, for reasons that have absolutely nothing to do with the sundry suspicions of shameless cherrypicking which you may have heard.

Just imagine how tempers are going to fray in F1 2010, presuming this 'winner takes all' system will definitely be in place (as I notice, on F1-Live.com, has seemingly already been approved).

It would be as if the golden goal was being reintroduced into football... and given BATracer's propensity already for unpredictability and "cruel" moments...

When it looked like being adopted for this year there was talk at BATracer that there would still be no most wins system and would remain the same points system. No doubt that would continue to be the case in the 2010 set.

Excellent result for Melbourne, my home race. Fastest in all pre-race sessions except the one that counted (Q3). Started 5th after taking a slightly heavier fuel load and making an error on that all important lap.
Race result was a brilliant 1-2 for the team, with my team lead coming from 10th to take the win and me finishing a very close second, despite a quicker fast lap. Team lead ran KERS and I didn't, suspect that was the difference as I did get in front a couple of times but got re-passed promptly.
Game is fun, except for the Q and Race sessions being run at 6am my time for this first game...

Can I just ask the experienced BATracers here, what difference (if any?) does it make to be a 'team leader' (as the first person to sign up to a particular drive always is)? Is there a natural competitiveness ballast in the game in favour of a team's 'team leader'? I did a quick search on the forums there and in the 'Help' section, but nobody seems to have specifically started a thread on it or really spoken about it directly anywhere, so I just thought I'd ask (unless it's mentioned on these forums' BATracer threads... will have to go and check).

There is only one difference, in games of a certain type like Indycars or Bat7's the Team Leader can name the team and change the livery....there are no performance differences.....

Ah, yes. I've just found a few threads on their forum that say basically the same thing.
While I'm here, there's a private '86 game which I'm presently trying to publicise:
http://batracer.com/-cj?&D&40434 ... which I myself just signed up to, to replace the several private games of mine that are now coming to an end. The addiction is emphatically
not flaring up again, honest.

Joined ... and promptly had problems with my first two practice laps, meaning I only got 3 in total
Now that the F1 2009 game is finished, anyone up for starting another new official atlas game ?
Any suggestions what to go for ? Historic F1 maybe ?
