I just can't work out how to have a clean race in GP2. I took pole in the first race, but keep crashing out, having had race-ruining errors or reliability problems etc., in every single race since, and I must be about half way through the season by now. I've made my driving style dramatically more conservative, like F1 '86, and even now little errors etc. are still happening as I struggle my way to an anonymous and uncompetitive 10th or something, lol. Honestly, I'm amazed how half the field isn't crashing out of every race. Maybe they really are and I just haven't noticed, lol.

On the other hand, I've just dominated an F1 '97 season on my way to securing my third public title and another Teams' title with three races still to go. That's the first time I've had a season like that on BATracer, where I seem to be the game's 'favoured one'.

Sometimes, Chicken, when decreasing the sliders doesn't work out, increasing does...

Thankee! Oddly enough I'm now on a four-race pointless run, but had built up such a lead in the races up to Hungary that I still sealed both titles at that early a stage.

And yeah, I wish I'd unchecked the WR box before joining a (public) GP2 game for the first time. My first try at DTM was nothing like as disastrous as this, lol. I just got to the end of Silverstone Feature just fine, but had crashed out or something from qualifying and could only work up to 15th or something from the back, nowhere near the points. That's one of the things about GP2 - right now, I keep on having 'unlucky' qualifying troubles or early retirements from feature races and therefore ruining my whole weekend because I can't work myself up enough places into the points positions in the sprint races which only go down to sixth. Without crashing. **scratches head**

In the interests of balance, I am now obliged to report that I have only now just gone and WON the Hockenheim Sprint.

I'd finished in P8 for the Feature and had utterly forgotten about the whole reverse grid thing, I'd been just so delighted to get my first in-race point!

Having returned from holiday I find myself with many free slots - is there a game going or does someone want to team up?

Poo. I'm trying to find someone I teamed up with in an F1 '09 game recently so that I could rate and comment on him on his profile (having forgotten to do so before the game was archived). Unfortunately, he has quite a common name and when I try to search for him by either first or last name via the Player Profiles search, the list of results only goes down so far (to people who signed up in '07 for example). And I'm pretty sure he was a fairly new user. So, unless he posts on my profile page, is there any other way of locating his profile again?

In any case, that'll teach me to dither before rating people in future. I wasn't aware of that search limit.

Remember, Chicken, when one joins a game the name/surname can be filled with whatever one wants, even though the real name is enforced, so I'd guess anyone can type, for instance, Tim Johnson or something...

When I join a game I usually add the team mate as a buddy so I can view his profile when needed.

Yep, that's the man I was talking about, well done, well done. Unless you're suggesting the name 'Tim Johnson' to be some kind of 'Alan Smithee' of BATracer? In which case, he really is long, long gone...

I could've sworn that was his name when I looked at his main profile though, and that he'd signed up in 2009. Yet the search function only goes down to loads of inactive accounts registered in '06 or whenever. **shrugs**

Getting some unknown guy as teammate really is hit and miss, I've noticed recently.

Would that be mid-season? And don't we need to know the game ID to be able to join you?

Edit: I'm presuming not... sorry, all my public slots are full. I can never find any interesting mid-season slots, a bit frustrating when I'm on the other side of the divide and the person who does get there first to join me mid-season in a Pro public game is one of those people who constantly fade in and out of the game, who doesn't seem to value being there. This is ultra-addictive and exciting BATracer, what on Earth possesses people to repeatedly log in and not test?

When I skippety hop in here making panicky posts like that it's typically for public games.

I have only recently started teaming up with random teammates instead of the high quality clan buddies, and the experience has been fairly depressing, I think I could only say one out of four would qualify as properly good.

Sadly when it comes to copyright infringements its a bit difficult prosecuting a corporation like Coke for using Ferrari branding to promote their product after they have turned a blind eye to BatRacer

Reminds me of the whole thing that's always kept Ferraris out of the Gran Turismo series. So, what will happen to the Ferraris in the various F1 sets? They'll be 'Red Team' or something now, presumably.

I assume they'll be re-named but i wouldn't be surprised if the entires sets are ditched to prevent this occurring again, if FOM gets annoyed by Youtube clips no doubt they'd come down on Batracer just as bad.

I think this whole copyright thing may have actually appeared to me when I first discovered the game earlier this year, wondering how they could possibly be legally using all that material, but I just shrugged and presumed that they must've surely had that side of things covered, somehow. Could this be the start of an avalanche...

On a lighter note, I was doing pretty hideously in a Ferrari Challenge game at the time, although I was also leading an F1 '86 Teams' championship in one.

Alternatively why don't Ferrari (and you) just use common sense and judge each case of using Ferrari images on their own merit instead of comparing them to ridiculous scenarios.

I understand that there are copyright rules, and obviously also that all legal entities should abide by them.

But a free game, for what is for all intents and purposes nothing but fans bragging when they win, and how flock at the gates each time a new game start to pick up the Ferrari or McLaren as first choise?

Rules are rules, but what about granting blanket:

"Yes you can use Ferrari car sets under the following conditions, each car must only appear in the livery it did during the season it compete in. Thanks for choosing Ferrari, and come buy the real thing when you are tired of playing with virtual cars"

To be honest though, when I started playing the game over 3 years ago, I thought Bernie would shut it down within the year. I doubt his people are so ignorant as to not know it exists (too many motorsport websites have advertised that its out there) so perhaps they see value in it.

I am truly peed off over this. I joined about a week ago, got KOOL tools too so paid to use a service that went down within a week of me joining. Its my fault guys

What I am peed off over is that I joined a pro F1 2009 season in the BMW cause all the good drives were gone. So I just went and set fastest practice time YAY! Then while eagerly awaiting if I could do the same thing in qualifying and get my first pole in my first F1 race the site goes down
