Anybody tried the GP11 set yet and if so, is it any different to the 2010 carset at all bar liveries?

It is indeed different. Obviously there are circuit and team strength changes, but the 1 stop onto hards isn't as strong as it once was. So far, it seems the dominant strategies are exploiting the lack of both compound rule to run Hard/Hard, or alternately, run Hard/Soft/Soft. With KERS back you get another dimension that was missing in 10 (although it was in 09), but the main point is the change in strategies from tyre degradation (softs don't last long at all now)... I don't think a single championship has finished yet, so there is still a lot of room to play with strategies

Im assuming this carset might well benefit guys in the weakers cars this time, unlike 09 and 10, which where Brawn and Red Bull ate everything. In a weaker team which hasn't much chance of getting into Q3, they can start on hard tyres, switch to softs when the frontrunners get their runs done and simply sprint away on the softs. Guys trying to get pole will have to figure out how to keep tyres going on the stints, and apart from running the tyre sliders on zero and the aggression sliders right down, I can't really see an instant route apart from sticking to hard tyres and pray those on the soft don't catch up first.

I was told by a friend that Jules had implimented a new rule into the game. I checked earlier and this came up.

"To reduce the influence of AWOL drivers, if you have more than 20 total sackings or AWOLs, you will no longer be able to join public games. You will still be able to join mid-season games, provided your total tally does not exceed 30 AWOLs or sackings. Private games are not restricted in this way."

"If joining a mid-season academy game as an instructor, you must have no more than a total of 10 AWOLs or sackings."

What are your thoughts? Personally, I have to say this is very strict. Its basically saying play the game or bugger off. I guess retirees like me are a bad influence on messiah Jules and his flock of sheep.

Personally I think it should be stricter... I certainly wouldn't team up with someone who had even 5 AWOLS.... and they certainly wouldn't get an invite to the MZ series.

Like Ted I wouldn't ever join anyone with more than say 5 AWOL count (I know, shit happens, but one have to be trusted before being absent by such amount of games). And there's always the holiday mode to be used when really necessary. The problem has always been, though, they could join us! Now they can't any more!

If you think there's no problem leaving your team mate alone for a couple of days, or that some 20 AWOL seasons are meaningless, that's not your game for sure...

Jejking - nope but a lot of us use a simple script that replaces names and images with the originals ;)

Some of the accounts with lots of AWOLs have subsequently been given to more reliable hands; I've teamed up with at least one of those. Recent behaviour could therefore be a better measure of uselessness. Can't say that I care all that much anyway as I'm not an AWOLer myself.
I'll have a few weeks break soon and then I'll be back ready to finish 2nd overall in every goddamn season I join!

That I've been given that account with so many AWOLs is usually just a nice excuse for the usual bad players. And certainly not Ise's case -- who happens to be so proud about his own AWOLs...

Meh, Ive only commited one AWOL in the past from an account inherited with a sole AWOL, so Im near-clean.

What's an AWOL? would i have picked mine up from not being able to play because i was at silverstone?

If you don't login for 3 days whilst having an active game then you go AWOL and the game spot is lost and your teammate get really annoyed ;)

Very bad form to do and can be avoided by getting an account sitter (KT users only of course)

I just started a batracer account, and im doing alright but how do i get out of the private game i am in, it hasnt started yet but i only want to focus on my public game for now??

I'll be hosting a New Years game as per usual... the trouble with starting one now is that we'll overlap Christmas....

Yeah, I'll only join games that will end before christmas now. I'll be up for new adventures even before new year again though, I'm sure!
Enjoying my first season as a constructor very much right now. I suspect a bit of extra dedication and skill will be required to be competitive in it in the long run...

I have some batracer questions

Do you get better wr stats if you do well in a sh!t car? I have joined a public game that's been waiting since Friday for someone to take one of the Virgins. There should be a wr bonus for doing well in crap cars because unless you have a lot of time to spend waiting for a public game, you end up with a dud car and games take forever to start.

Has the site been hacked? I keep getting sent to other sites when I click on chat links using android tablet.

Any of you guys played Constructors yet?
It's pretty much all I play these days (except the occasional Deathrace and MZ of course)

Well duh, check my profile... I'm making a habit of missing out on titles there, continuously finding new ways of making errors with the development bit but overall I feel that I'm getting wiser with time. I like both the sets, not really sure why Stateside seems less popular, it might just be my fave one. I like how the engines and more importantly the tyres are randomized from one season to another, makes every season unique. Hate the random punctures though, largely on behalf of Marcio right now...

Fingers crossed that Jules continues to develop the game into having more management options such as budget etc as I like the Constructors update a lot!

Just finishing my first, Ted -- I didn't even know there are two different brands of it before I've read it here -- and it is okay, I would say. Of course being hit in 5 out of 11 races by tyres being blasted is a little too much for me, and an huge stress on the well known Jules' definition of randomness, which actually is random, I must add...

But still, with a Team Mate like Makarias, any season in any carset is not only plenty of entertainment but as well a step up on deciphering batracer's inner secrets...

And, as a DTM full time guy, I must say I foresee I'll do another one at least as soon as Markus invites meself...

A hint regarding Constructors...tyre choice is vital...especially the reliability thereof ;)
