I feel after so much negativism about just or unjust penalties that we need a more positive thread.
Your driver of the day, Alonso for his fine win, Kubica for a mature drive that could make him a contender again, Piquet for fencing off him being axed, Kimi for scoring some points or Massa for recuperating 2 points after his bonehead mistake?
You name it, I say Alonso mighty fine drive after the opportunity presented itself, great second stint

Well, there's only one. Brilliant drive from Alonso, it's in races like these I remember why I support him, there's no better driver on the grid.
But honorary mention to Kubica because I think he had to struggle a lot with his car, still made no mistakes and succeeded in keeping Kimi behind him. Well done!

Who voted for Massa or Hamilton?
It's a tough choice between Kubica and Alonso but Fred gets it.
I voted Alonso. My second choice would be Kubica

Only sensible choice is Alonso.
Kubica was good but Alonso was in a different league.

my candidates were Alonso, Piquet and Massa.
Massa was the fastest but his move on Lewis cost him a lot and it was his own fault, he cameback nicely to win some points but that's not enough to make him driver of the day.
Piquet did a great job to climb up the pack, but Alonso was the driver of the day, he made it look easy to win on a renault, and his strategy worked out perfectly. amazing pace, WDC quality Alonso again.

Come on if Webber gets a vote than surely Trulli should have one too

Bourdais deserves a mention for blitzing little Vettel who really isn't as good as many think.

Alonso. Had a good car, but did a great job while all around him f(l)ailed.

Alonso, the best driver in F1. Dragging a 2nd rate car past the McLaren of Kovy and Ferrari of Kimi.
Pure class.
Has to be Alonso. Honourable mention to Bourdais.

Hell I don't think even Ronzo would have voted for Hammy today, maybe James Allen voted

James Allen is busy praying at his 'Lewis Hamilton Shrine' he has in his garden shed.
If you make a bonehead move, you don't deserve "driver of the day." Alonso is my choice.

I must admit to being amazed that anyone would vote for either Massa or Hamilton.
My vote went to Kubica for the brilliant way he held off Raikkonen. Alonso was also brilliant and Piquet did well to haul himself (hopefully) out of the do da and keep a place for next year. Everyone else were also rans methinks!

Robert Kubica. Brilliant defence from Kimi Raikkonen, way quicker than his team mate.
If it was't for that silly penalty at Singapore he'd still be in the thick of the championship battle. Stupid rules

Nice to know that your fed up of the negative stuff and want to put up a decent thread for a change. Oh wait, this is the same person who an hour or so after saying that, went and started a thread called "Dick of the Day" - Excellent hypocrisy there that man! Well done!

Im amazed there is more than one option, stunning drive from Alonso
Yet again, how apt the Massa bar is red. 8 votes?
As much as I dislike Alonso as a person, I've got to give credit where it's due.
His drive was probably the best of the field.
Did I say that? Urgh!

Alonso, if for no other reason than his second stint blitz.
Kubica
Kimi, he finally scored points
PK jr
Bourdais

for not backing down from a Ferrari fight
Jarno

for not choo-chooing de race
special mention for Webber- he wasn't abducted by aliens or de-railed by nearby Japanese bullet trains

Alonso, great drive again in the Renault.
Special mention to his team as well.. is it me or since a couple of races the Renault engine is even more 'reliable' than it already was before?

OK midnight CET time to wrap this one up too.
No surprise here, just like today Fernando beats them all.
A very honorable mention for Robert Kubica while mini-PK and and Massa got a few votes too.
Congrats to the Asturian Prince for a race very well driven and a poll convincingly won

I chose Alonso cuz its hard not to, but it was obvious his Renault was simply working fantastic, evident by Piquet's pace for most of the race.
Kubica did great to fend off Raikkonen, and deserves mentioning, but I couldn't choose him as 'Driver of the Day' simply because he was not able to do anything about Alonso. Maybe his car just wasn't up to it, I dont know, but I did expect a little more from him, to be honest.
Bourdais also did really good, and was faster than his touted teammate during the race, which is worth mentioning, too. Shame about his penalty of course.

Kubica because of his defensive driving masterclass.
