I'm not sure what has happened to F1, but recently we seem to be having far too many quotes sprouting love in the pit lane.

First we have Mallya said"Beyond that I think there is a very positive and friendly spirit on either side"

Then Alonso said "I told many times that I have great respect to Lewis and we speak together."

And now Coulthard is in on the act saying "So I am feeling all loved and cuddly at the moment, which I never felt for years!"

I'm guessing Fred means they both have (on occasion) have spoken at the same time... but not to eachother.

It would be a bit worrying I must admit, but as we know that everyone in F1 always says the opposite of what they mean (taking their lead from their glorious President), I think we can still rest assured that they all hate each other really, just as we always thought.

It appeared pretty frosty in Singapore. When Alonso and Hamilton were toweling off before the podium they had the shortest of handshakes with hardly any eye contact.

I think both realise last year's bust up doesn't play well in the press, but IMO their distaste for each other still exists.

Hey, why bother taking cars to Brazil??? Why not just let the drivers/teams bring their favorite toys and games like we used to do in school?

It could all be settled with a nice civilised game of Cluedo. (A bit dated that! Showing my age I think!!!)

Then again, that would probably result in 200 pages of ranting about how much better Fernando is than Lewis, and how he could have proved it if he had been allowed to be Colenel Mustard!!!! lol.gif

Tony.

Edit: That was definitly 100% tongue in cheek. I hope I don't get attacked by 20,000 fanboys saying that FA has always been better at Cluedo!!!!!!!!!

I disagree. I think 90% of it is in the mind of the press. Also, this board would be half empty (and the better for it) if true that they don't have a mutual hate campaign.

I think the key difference is that most F1 drivers are decent people, despite their highly competitive foibles.
It's just a shame that each have a large section of fanbase who aren't decent people.
MONTOYASPEED
I thought the thread was going to be about Hamilton and Ron Dennis.
Muzzinho
I think everyone is Fed up with Shamilton. He will get his comeuppance on Sunday. Dont expect him to finish the race. Not because of other drivers but because of himself.

I think with time Alonso has come to realize that the reasons why he felt uneasy at McLaren were not Hamilton's fault. He has made it very clear (specially lately) that he preffers Massa to win because he doesn't want a McLaren to win, but that he doesn't have a problem with Lewis.

Yeah, that's a brilliant cover story.

"I wasn't angry about a rookie beating me, I was angry because Ron wouldn't stop him doing so."

The only thing he wanted Ron to do was to stop Hamilton from cheating him in Hungary yet he allowed him to break their intra team agreement. rolleyes.gif

He was also fed up with receiving tyres with low pressures in Q3, just like Heikki this season.

Can you tell me how many times we've seen Lewis' car with a set of mismatched tyres?
Oh yeah that's right it only happens to the other car they are racing against...

There is a Spanish website devoted to Hamilton bashing for people like you, why don't you go and join them! wave.gif

I'm not bashing anyone just stating facts.
Is it not a fact that Lewis cheated him in Hungary?
Is it not a fact that Heikki was P1 after the first Q3 runs in China? Funny how he received a set of tyres with low pressures (no grip) for the final run.
And we've seen this many times during this and last season. Alonso/Heikki faster in the first runs and when they pit they get tyres with the wrong pressures.
Is it not a fact that Heikki got a set of mismatched tyres for the race in China? If what happened in Q3 was just a mistake then having the mechanics sabotage his race the very next day surely looks suspicious.
Again how many times have we seen Lewis car with a set of mismatched tyres?
Also how many times has Lewis had a mechanical DNF? 0
Heikki? 5

Are these facts? Yes/No?
If you consider stating facts = bashing, then so be it.

I know this went OT, thanks Rodrigo for derailing the thread!

So your saying the only reason Hamilton beat Alonso last year was because Alonso's team, race engineer and crew were sabotaging him!

Whatever makes you feel better!

I think Alonso did a pretty good job of sabotaging himself last year, I mean people go on about Hamilton's first corner antics but Alonso was throwing it off the road at every opportunity last year.

I didn't say that, I know he shouldn't have retaliated that way but the point is that Lewis triggered the whole thing and if it wasn't for that Alonso would have left Hungary 1 point ahead and then most likely everything would have been different...

Except it was in Hungary that Alonso announced to Ron Dennis that he was going to reveal to the FIA that he had information that would prove that Mclaren had Ferrari technical info. If I was Ron Dennis I would have personally made sure every time Alonso sat in the car, not only the tyres were flat, but also when the engine was turned over all the wheels and wings fell off and the car filled up with bubbles!

That's quite a spin of what i was saying. Of course he was angry at Lewis (and probably at himself) for getting beaten by a rookie, but at the end of the day it's not Lewis' fault that he could match Fernando, and i think Fernando understands it. I think there was more going on behind the scenes between Fernando and Ron than what we got to know, but i'm not saying that's the reason Lewis was as good as Fernando.

And would that happened if Lewis didn't cheat him?
Alonso got pissed off because Ron allowed it.
If it wasn't for Lewis cheating maybe they wouldn't have got the 100M fine.

Well, Speed channel had an exposé today on that very subject and it turns out that Heikki does not "suck" after all. It turns out that not only was Heikki in Q3 driving on tyres with the wrong pressure gradient, they switched the tyres on the Finn!! And what excuse did Matchett use to exonerate McM from this HUUUUUGE mistake in QUALIFYING? The manufacturer had painted their logo on the wrong side of the tyre, which led the team to believe that the LF tyre was really the RF and viceversa. confused.gif confused.gif confused.gif

Now, I understand it is not popular to insinuate, since this is Autosport.com, that the mechanics messed up (all they had to do is chek closer to see the RF and LF letters etched on the side of the tyre). Now, in the world of F1, where EVERY detail MATTERS, this is a huge problem, one that McM has to address, as in this case the "fine line" between sabotage and just plain carelesness is invisible.

What your comment says is that you have no qualms about sabotaging a driver. However, if we disect your (following) quote...:

... You seem to recognize that sabotaging is something bad. Which skid solo would you like us to believe? The one that insists that sabotaging is not in McM's bag of tricks or the one that says it is OK when the one being sabotaged is Fernando Alonso?

That is what I call being royally FoS.

By the by, what FA did in Hungary was wrong indeed. But so was LH and McM. And the spying scandal isn't wrong because FA actually brought it to light, it is bad because you ARE NOT TO SPY ON ANYONE. If you can't tell the difference then check yourself into a mental clinic.

Maybe you should go work for F1, to show them where they are all going wrong. God I pity your wife if you've got one!
