I am not sure if I have c....d up the thread , however, hopefully I can supply some information with regards to Alexander Engineering.
I was an apprentice mechanic at Alexanders during the early 60's, (dicovered women and booze and gave up after 3 years) , I cannot recall Bob Spikins he must have been before my time, however, the people I can remember. (in no particular order) MD Michael Alexander Hunter Christie, what an elegant handsome character he was, Tom Rolfe works Director a no-nonsense straight to point man, but would always listern and help if he could, Fred Hyllier foreman, workaholic but a very nice person
During the period I was there they prepared and raced mini coopers, there main drivers were Mick Clare, Elizabeth Jones and Tony Lanfranchi.
If you have anything else you want to know, perhaps I can help!!!

I recall seeing one of the very first Morris 1100s outside his house in Long Crendon, no doubt already hotted up. It was green and had the odd registration that was on all of his cars, but I can't bring it to mind at the moment. I could ask his son John though...

In Carters book "reflections" is a paddock shot where I recognize Alexanders old Dodge with Luton body/box.
Anything more on transporters ? Colours ?
