It's finally over right? Or is there any more "appeal"?

Maybe a 25sec penalty for Trulli. He braked too late at the start/finish straight, took the inside, and pushed another driver off the track. If my memory is correct, that warrants a 25 sec penalty.

Yeh Lewis.... what a great race and finish. All of Britain is proud of you.

I'm glad that Lewis makes it despite all that happened throughout the season.

Can't argue there. What an unbelievable climax: the craziness of the Australian GP really set the tone for the year...

A pretty exciting season given how boring 2006 and 2007 were.

Exciting, but at the same time one has to wonder why it was so exciting? Because of the mistakes and inconsistency of the title contenders (both teams and drivers). So an exciting season with a questionable level of driving by the protagonists (and a questionable level of team work by Ferrari).

Bah. If we're criticising the drivers and teams for not being perfect, non-error-making robots then we're basically just criticising for the hell of it. drunk.gif Look at some of the races from the '80s; it's amazing how many mistakes and silly retirements the likes of Piquet, Prost and Senna managed.

Well, although I'm happy with the final result, I can't say it was a classic season. Way too many questionable steward decisions really took the edge off it for me. I'm kind of against customer cars too, especially when they do as well as Toro Rosso, even though I think Vettel is a special talent.

All I say, neither Lewis or Massa had made the most of their cars and opportunities IMO (and I am a fan of Massa). Yes, they all make mistakes, they are not robots, but I can't help feeling the level of 2008 was especially low in this respect (in terms of excitement it was top class).

In a way excitement and perfection are opposites. I mean if there is a team and a driver working flawlessly then what we get is a boring season like 2002 or 2004. But if they are often making mistakes then you get unpredictabilty and excitiment, like this season. For most of the fans, the latter is better, of course, but when rating the drivers you have to say it could have been done better - by both of them.

For all Alonso pundits, he finished up the season AHEAD of Heidfeld and Kovalainen in an inferior car.

I hope he comes back strong next year and challenge for yet another championship. up.gif

If he carries on his current form, and Raikkonen gets his mojo back, we could be in for a good season, as long as all teams get a decent handle on the new rules.

No, that is clearly not the case at all.

...And those rules are applied consistently...

This year is full of controversies but I guess that the ending is well deserved for both of the racers.

Please no.

The ringmaster has done it again, all the drama of the season to end on the the last lap of the last race.

Wow. the tension.

Enjoy it all, it may never get to be like this again !

The comment by someone about the season ending in Brazil amongst the one-eyed Massa supporters just added to the drama of the day, even the booing of the Mclaren team.

Where is the last race next year ?

Abu Dhabi ... I can feel the tension ebbing away now....

This year is harder than last year for Lewis especially with the penalties.

Haven't posted for years, probably won't again for a while.
Declaration: I am a McLaren fan.

What an unbelievable finish! Obviously glad that Lewis managed to get that final place and point but don't quite know what they were thinking running such low downforce on both cars given the weather forecast.

The irony for me is that final point (with Glock slowing over last two laps) equated to the point Massa was gifted (Bourdais penalty) in Japan. For the record I think Lewis did gain an advantage at Spa.

Massa would have been a worthy champion in my book. Mistake in Australia, awful at Silverstone and timid in Germany but aside from that he was very quick and but for a few team errors could have, maybe should have won.

Congrats to the Red team on the WCC but this raises an interesting question. Which was the best car?

IMHO it was the Ferrari and they they were undone (in terms of WDC) by the sheer number of wet races. McLaren had a very good car but it was telling just how much harder on the tyres it was.

Obviously new rules next year (fat slicks and reduced turbulence - can't wait) but would expect the usual suspects to be in contenton. Interesting to see how Kimi and Heikki perform (they both surely have to be better). BMW and/or Renault could well be able to really challenge as well.

It pains me to say it but Alonso was been great over the last 5-6 races but I can't give him my driver of the year (would be like giving Judas Iscariot the Nobel Peace Prize). Kubica likewise had his moments but when all is said, he wasn't that much better than Heidfeld. For me the driver of the year would be Sebastian Vettel, sure his big performances were primarily in the wet but let's bear in mind this team was Minardi just a couple of years ago.

Finally farewell to DC. So many McLaren memories (I will never foget Melbourne '98, France '00).

Yuck!

Sure was a great race and championship. Bring on the very much poorer looking (minus France and Canada) 09
