But how do we know that this is a blanking plate. I know it looks different but i have never heard of a team using "blanket plates" on their rear diffusers before. Is this just pure speculation or is there a source?
Only source is that James Allen has said that 'some' other teams have copied Brawn's diffuser design already and since, Renault, Ferrari, Red Bull and BMW have filed protests. That leaves Mclaren, Force India and Toro Rosso. Not sure Toro Rosso can do the diffuser thing because of there rear suspension geometry ie pull rod instead of push and then there is that big gap in the middle of the central section of the macca diffuser. So in answer to your question, there is no source categorically stating that Macca have a double decker diffuser and yes it is speculation but speculation fueled by a few bits of info that give the theory credence. But it remains a theory never the less.
However, despite all the diffuser debacle, Lewis doesn't think they'll qualify above fifteenth and will be lucky to get a point this weekend so I doubt that they'll be quick whatever changes they've made.
