From the video the covered diffuser is still on cry.gif
mkay
I just saw the diffuser on BBC.

It's still a single-decker. The ''removable'' part is still in place.
Insane111
The Plate is still on Lewis car on the installation lap. Stuff was being done in the garage though...
mkay
Wow. 3 to answer simultaneously. We are surely passionate about this!

Like the guys at BBC said, McLaren's got some instability in the rear... Hamilton is sliding all over the place and they can't seem to have pace in S1 and S3.
mkay
WOW.

Kova, 1:27.9!

I'm gonna be up for free practice 2 as well. I'll be dead tommorow. Still it's history.

So far based on observation I would say that Kimi and Kova, Button and Barachello look very happy and comfortable in their cars. Lewis, Massa, Alonso and Vettel not so confident, a few lock-ups etc a bit ragged. Just based on instinct. Of course ridiculously early days.
Insane111
Lewis seems right up there on the first two sectors, then loses it a bit in the final sector.

Pleased to see Kova mixing it up with the cars that are supposedly "up front". Only FP1 though...
Insane111
Was that lap on the harder tyre? Just done a 1.27.4 on about the 3rd lap of a stint, must be hard really.

Would be delighted if Heikki could match Lewis this year.
werks prototype
No doubt about it so far Kova looks very quick even on hards.

1. Rosberg on hards 1:26.687

They were both using the latest diffuser design.
Insane111
Hopefully Lewis is just having a bit of a problem with set up. Heikki looking good and that position is very positive, only practice yeah yeah but lets face it, with the pre race build up we were getting, it sounded like last would have been an achievement.

Fingers crossed he can keep it up FP2, and Lewis can join him.

Wouldn't mind seeing if The Diffuser has been used at all...
TheSaltire
Lewis just doesn't look comfortable in that car. Not sure what fuel loads or new bits are being run. Kova could be a on much different program for today.

All the cars are looking pretty twitchy, especially coming out of Turn 1.

How do you know? I'm watching it live I saw nothing new. Hopefully later, free 3 or even qual. Free 2 would be good but probably not clever.

Definitely. this is something we've seen before. Looked a bit like a fish out of water. But he also 'looked' heavy when carrying the momentum through the corners, the car just changed direction differently to Kova's no 2. Same with Massa and dare I say Alonso, great car control by Alonso though.
trenchcoat
Just like I expected - I knew McLaren are a top 5 car. Kovi has the right set up imo and looks great with the car. Over a second quicker than lewis on sector 3 alone. I 'm sure the team have 2 different setups for the cars. It would be great to see both McLarens up there.

The they showed Lewis touring around on his initial installation lap i had a quick look at the diffuser and it was the brawn esque solution being used.

I saw that, they gave us quite a long slow mo of the rear and it appeared to me to be the same silhouette that we've seen before, as presented to scrutineering, same flap, nothing removed or cut out. Different story regarding the floor of course.

I didn't see the rear of Kova's car no 2 though at any point. I hope this means that there is even more to come.

Hamilton's version of the FA aces?

Kova's rear end was different from Hamilton's. It doesn't have the tunel above the diffuser, and have outlets for the hot air from the exaust on the left side.

It looks like his car is more stable, and not so fishy at the rear even with less rear wing.

Nice. I like the idea!

Half an hour ago boxes with new parts came for the cars. So is there any magical part that will make Mclaren fly in the end?

Ermmmmmm....
I was listening to that too, the McLaren boys declined to answer the question according to the presenters. It was said as a joke, nobody confirmed anything lol.gif
f1rules
they told the story twice, the first time they said they confirmed, the sec time they told the story, the commentator said he passed the mclaren trucks and they were uncovering theese big cases, and he asked is that the new diff, and they said what do you think, nevertheless as i understood it, it was new parts, but yes no talk about uber diff lol.gif
Insane111
Lewis looking much quicker...

Trulli leading the way on softs Hamilton was on hard compounds
Minicoop831
Definitly better than the first session, but he is still a little shaky on the in car camera
raiseyourfistfor
That might be because they have setup the suspension to be very hard
Minicoop831
Diffuser is the same as the first session, at least from what I have seen but maybe I'm wrong because I have not seen a slow mo of the rear yet
Minicoop831
Does anybody know why bmw is so off the pace?
