He will not be missed by some members of the team to whom he gave a hard time, but his discipline might well be missed.

Well I can criticise easily, but admit I am wrong when I am.

Whitmarsh is showing a pair today and speaking clearly and without equivocation up.gif

Yeah, I was way too quick to blame Whitmarsh blush.gif

Glad this issue's sorted, hopefully the FIA will let the matter rest.

Maybe they are preparing for the "diffusor of justice" but I have a feeling that they will only use it in China after the appeal is over.

It's the new tactics. Kovalainen will divebomb himself in the pack at the first corner and then detonate his KERS system, taking out much of the competition.

I just hope this whole sh*t does not demoralise and or demotivate the team. I also hope that mercedes would let this one ride...

And to those who are still doubting the sincerity of Martin, you can forget it.
Ryan was so trusted and he was the team discplinarian. Martin would have taken his account of what went on at Melbourne as sacrosant. LH did not set out to lie otherwise he would not have given the press conference where he stated that the team told him to let Trulli by.

I also think the FIA would at the worst give Mclaren a gentle slap on the wrist.

Man can't believe nobody spotted this.
In first practice Hamilton was trying out the new plough (introduced by Brawn) then in the second practice it had been taken off.
Anybody else see it?

I am in Brussels and didn't have access to the red button. Did any of the commentators mention this?

I only caught a glimpse of it twice during the entire duration of FP1, But it's there dude! Right behind that that new hanging weight ballast under the nose (like on the RBR) wink.gif Excellent that we are bringing new parts to this circuit - even if they are only to test tho.

I was mistaking, I thought you meant the new diffuser design. Interesting nonetheless.

Not sure mate. I read it in Autosports magazine edition (Brawn's technical analysis by that chap Anderson) and he called it a plow/plough.

I see it now, the diffuser does not extend as far to the floor on the right hand side?

Lewis ran without KERS on FP2

Q. Another question for both of you in the front row. Relating to KERS, how do you feel KERS went and how you have used it so far?

MW: I think at the moment it is still early days and frankly we had some difficulties with KERS today and Lewis's runs in the afternoon were without KERS. It was an incredibly challenging range of technologies to package KERS on a Formula One car. I think Mercedes Benz have done a fantastic job and it was a really successful use of it in Australia. Here it has been a bit challenging but again it is early days. I am confident that we will find our way through those difficulties.

It's a technology that is important to Formula One and there has been just a huge effort to make it work. I can appreciate that some teams have decided wisely not to bowl in there with KERS. I think Mercedes Benz and ourselves rolled our shirt-sleeves up and got stuck into it. It has been a massively expensive and challenging programme. But we are going to stick at it. When it is working there is some advantage and we will, I am sure, have benefit of it as the season progresses.

Q. Will you persevere with it this weekend?

MW: Yes, we will. I think we had one glitch which caused us for safety and practical reasons to turn it off. I think we had a small cooling pump failure which meant we couldn't run with it on Lewis's car. We will obviously look into that and see whether it is anything particular to these conditions or whether it's the fact it is a very new technology and we are working hard to develop it and solve those problems.

Does the diffuser vanes not extend as low on the right hand side as they do on the left hand side?

Or is that due to the angle of the car relative to the camera?

just the angle of the camera....

It will be interesting if McLaren don't run KERS this race, or even if Heiki uses it and Lewis doesn't, to compare with how they were in Australia.

It was just a small glitch with Lewis, they turned it off so that he could run his program.

Do you think they are testing that part for the upcoming diffuser?

Or maybe they thought worth sticking on to see if it gives a performance advantage on its own.

I can think its been developed to work without the expected new diffuser.
