Just now, the the Technical Regulations thread and the Max's Sci-Fi (moveable aero) thread were moved to the technical Forum. I am a bit puzzled by this as this basically kills what are lively threads where mostly laymen (the vast majority are no engineers) have discussions about the politics and policies of technical regulations and also mostly layman's opinion on technical issues in F1 (occasionally with the input of people with good insight into the topics). Therefore, these threads belong in the RC forum.

Can moderators and others comment on this?

Edit: Also, why than is the KERS thread still in the RC forum?

Hi,
That was me. I moved two threads which were active in RC to technical forum with redirects so that discussions can continue there. I don't know why this would 'kill' them. All BB members can read and participate in any forum, but the forums have different theme topics.

Contact me by PM if you want to discuss further.
Thanks.

I don't care where they are, but please DON'T delete them (particualry the 2009 regs one), as was the case with the Damon Hill thread (racing comments->nostalgia->racing comments-> deleted).

Hi wingwalker and Timstr11,

A thread would not be deleted unless there was a problem in the content or postings.

I have now redirected the KERS thread also.

The Technical Regulations thread is practically a year old, the KERS one something like 9 months. They've always been full with technical stuff, why move them only now ?

Indeed, they've become a sort of 'refuge' for the laymen as far as technical related things are concerned, but also - rightiously mentioned: for politics and policies regarding future regultions. Soon there will be a lot of talks about that again and then certainly the Technical Forum wouldn't be the right place for them either.

Of course the members are still free to read and participate in the threads. (I may be wrong) but I think that the majorty of posters at Atlas only visits the Racing Comments forum (I hardly ever visit another forum to be honest). I'm also afraid the discussions will get 'killed', in which case I don't much feel like doing translation work either...

IMO the way to re-derict a threat is to leave the name of the thread in RC, and have the link for the re-directed thread there when you open the thread title in RC. That way Mel you can have your cake and eat it too.
