I have two questions which are based only on viewing endless videos, never having a chance to actually play the game.
-Why do the physics seem to disappear once a car leaves the ground? Even the smallest oval hit and you've got cars flipping through the air like it was olympic gymnastics.
-Why is setup so basic? I don't think I've seen a car yet where you can adjust much on the suspension beyond tire angles and pressures and stuff. Do the bigger cars like the DP and Star Mazda let you adjust third springs and aero dynamics and stuff? I saw the setup screen for the Truck and it didn't look like you could do classic oval stuff like stagger and cross-weights.
- Most simulators have problems with the physics calculations when the car gets airborne. Perhaps it is more extreme in iRacing.
- You have the rookie category where setup is either fixed or very limited. In the higher classes (Riley, NASCAR, Formula Mazda) I doubt you can complain about lack of setup options. I mostly race the slower cars so I haven't looked at the setup options for the "real" racers!. I do though know that the NASCAR car has a stagger option.
In regards to the game itself iRacing is on par with the absolute best mods in rFactor, like Caterham, Porsche, etc. Where iRacing shines is in the races themselves. Only paying subscribers can compete so you never encounter crashing idiots like you do in every other racing simulator. The online code is also extremely good.
