Imo they can do with their team what ever they please and the 100 percent American is not true at all because Peter is Australian. - they are simply saying that because they want to promote US born open wheel race car drivers and there is nothing wrong with that. RedBull did it, both Toyota and Honda have done it too.
Does Redbull go outside their program to hire new drivers? The same thing there.
I think that the US team will start with an experienced F1 driver alongside a rookie US driver.

That's not what i had said, I just said it makes them sound silly trying to say it's a team made from only americans, when we know that's not likely to be the case.

PS I agree with you, they should get american drivers, I just don't know who exactly but there is absolutely no reason to think americans couldn't make it. I just think that it might be easier if they go using the F3, then the gp2, and then make it to f1. for instance i didn't think that scott speed was worse than tonio liuzzi and a whole bunch that was there. So if this team really makes it, i would like to see how the drivers would do in an enviroment that doesn't try to put em down.

USF1 has annouced it has hired Eric Warren to lead a design group already in action. Warren is known to be a leading figure of NASCAR engineering and worked lately for Michael Waltrip Racing. He contributed also to the success of Kranefuss-Haas Racing, Penske Racing in the 90s and Evernham Motorsports from 2002 to 2007. Source: http://engineeringf1.free.fr/en/index.html

nothing out of the ordinary, their website is undergoing FIA mandated crash tests.

And now they are out of spare parts.

I think it is very interesting to see an american team as F1 is very well conected to the aerospace industry.
I remember that Hercules was the american partner to McLaren Barnard when introducing the 1st composite cockpit. up.gif
The F1 electronic conectors are derived from jetfighters and all.

Can't wait to see what Martin Marieta Lockheed and Boing-boing are doing now. clap.gif

From the AutoSport Interview of the 18th:

Q. Will you want an early decision on drivers to help with marketing campaigns going forwards?

KA: We really need to run two American drivers, if this is really going to work. Having USF1 based in Oxfordshire with a couple of Brazilians just isn't going to fly! The Americans are out there – there are 370 million people in the United States and if you look back at anything we put our mind to, we generally do pretty good.

Everybody laughed when Kenny Roberts came over here on motorbikes and kicked some butt! It isn't going to be pretty in that first year or two – if we are on the grid and prove we can get it together, I think we will surprise some people just by being there. People say we should have a seasoned F1 guy but short of Michael Schumacher coming out of retirement, why not take a flyer on some new talent?

They are pretty much guaranteed failure if they going to take a flyer on 2 new drivers.

New team, so no database of track data to do anything other than a best guess at set up.
New Drivers never been on the track so have no idea of where to go other than playing PS3

Basing a team out of the US to run in F1 is just not going to work. You are starting with too many things working against you. Heck even Penske - until only recently - built his Indy cars in England.

It will be a nice try but huge waste of money at the end of the day

Also, there's only about 305 million people in the U.S.

Interview with Ken Anderson, and some pics of their facility, proof that actually something is going on there:
