Thanks so much for posting that pic - I kind of remember seeing that photo in my Dad's stuff, but it has got lost along the way. That looked like a fun day! Why did you keep the cutting - are you a fan or friend of George's?

Hi , Julie , i've scanned the pic again , to give a better view of your dad . I came across it in a copy of MotorCycle Weekly in a pile of hundreds which were in my loft.
If I find any more on your dad i'll gladly post .
All the best to you , Phil wave.gif

I have found some local newspaper cuttings I had save and forgotten about regarding the true details of the death of George and what lead up to the event. I have connections to George and can confirm they are factual. If anybody is interested please contact me. Hazel

George O'Dell crashed in practice for the 1971 TT. He practiced on both solo and sidecar that year.
This shot shows George at Ballaugh Bridge on the Triumph. Not sure if he pranged the solo or sidecar - does anyone know?

Hi,
my name is Karl Ellison and along with Dave Molyneux have recently taken ownership of George O'Dells 1977 World Championship winning Seymaz outfit.

We are restoring the bike to it's 1978 Wurth sponsored colour scheme and have been invited to parade the bike in the Yamaha 50th Anniversary parade lap and other events at the 2011 IOM TT.

The intention is to display the bike at the rear of the TT Grandstand (dates tba) during race week and provide a visual / audio display of George and the bikes history. I read during the e-mail thread that Michael O'Dell was hoping to convert the Harry Carpenter Brands lap to DVD, if you managed it Michael, could you please get in touch. If anybody else has any video footage it would be appreciated if we could either borrow or copy it, thanks

Hi Karl,

Ive not been on this site for ages, I was just killing some time and found this thread. I cant beleive I found this 3 hours after you posted it. I would love to see the outfit will you be showing it anywhere else other than the IOM, I did manage to get the Video onto DVD, Im not familiar with this format/forum type of communication, Is there a way of sending you an email address without the world seeing it etc?

Look forward to hearing from you

Mike if you click on Karls name on the left of his post, a menu will drop down, select 'send message' from the menu and you will be able to send him a private message which only he can see.

Karl will also automatically be sent an email to tell him he has a message waiting for him.

No, thats' the Schmid outfit George campaigned in the 78 season, he also rode the Windle and the Seymaz in the same season.

Hello

I know a lot about George as he was my older brother (3.5 years)

If you need some information and it is not too personal or sensitive I would be happy to help

It is great to see that you guys are keeping his memory alive but there are some really incorrect statements out there and it would be nice to set the record straight

I still have 3 bikes (all cruisers, but I can tell you that George started on Sidecars when he made me sit in the chair of my own AJS 650 which I only got to ride if he was not around)

Regards
