I find the standard controller OK, you just have to be prepared to use a ridiculous amount of opposite lock.

yeup, i'm sliding through every corner. i find that putting in some understeer helps counter the controller's oversteer nature.

Be carefull, you never guess what happened to me... frown.gif

Last friday I bought farcry2 platinum and installed it. Had to download some software on the PS3. At 12:00 my Shift Brother called me. We played the game together and we wanted to achieve level 50 together... We were halfway 49....up.gif

But guess what... cry.gif

After starting it up, game gone. Still 26.000.000 on the bank. My lambo in the back. But not able to do a thing.

600 races done > gone
26.000.000 > gone
records > wel not gone.

still on the online scoreboards but not in the game. While I had competition with two of my colleagues. Everything is red again. While most were green...

Had to reset the save game and I started over but not happy. And internet shows me I am not alone. This has happened to more people.. down.gif down.gif down.gif .

EA down.gif

that bites. anybody post a solution to recover the data file?

The strange thing about this game is you are basically required to drift through every corner if you want to go through them fast enough to get a good time... I'm not sure this is the case in real racing.. So to me this very much has an arcadey driving style, not that that's a bad thing, but this is touted as a sim.

Anyone tried this mod? The modding community is fantastic on PC for this game.

I just bought this game on sale on Steam, figured it should have matured more by now.

My favourite mods so far:

No bloom, but keeps HDR.

No DOF effect when driving fast.

Reduced AI agression to 55%, this one lets you actually RACE without it turning into bumper cars like the game is set by default on higher levels.

The tyre mod, that adds multiple slip angle etc. up.gif

I haven't tried the F1 2009 mod yet, their basically almost direct ports from rfactor etc.

After you play with the game for a while, it really is quite good game with excellent graphics. 1920x1200 4x(AA) 16x(AF) max settings and bloom off with vsync, is really really pretty. smile.gif

Edit: forgot to add, there is a mod that fixes also all the FFB and wheel issues with G25 etc. up.gif Leave it up to community to fix that one, eh? rolleyes.gif

Hi Menace,

Is this within the mod you you wrote earlier and is it separate? if so can you provide the link...

I remember when NFS:Shift was laanched I was very excited about it but it went on shelf immadiately due to lag between steering from my G25 and actual reaction of front wheels. The game had potiential though and I was sorry to be forced to abandon it. If cummunity solved that problem I will be happy to try it again

check this out, there are also seperate mods just for the ffb wheel settings...

and/or

QUOTE
- match in-game wheel rotation with your wheel
- new controller profiles to change wheel ffb (also fix bug in DFGT pedals settings)

QUOTE
- workaround for the brake bias being applied incorrectly by game UI. It unfortunately disables the slider but does allow the game to use the default value
- reduce input lag and add damper/friction to wheel FFB
- new controller profiles to change wheel ffb (also fix bug in DFGT pedals settings)

...really, I suggest you just browse through and decide on what looks the best for you. I prefer to use just "parts" of the mods, ie I replace the settings I want to use.

www.nogripracing.com and http://www.simracingworld.com/files/279-ne...-modifications/ are both good sources for mods.

Makes you wonder why this cannot be a business plan for EA.
They could sell a "real" mod update pack to make the game less arcade, then capture 100% of potential audience.
EA is always hit-and-run with racing games, they never make the better version, they just drop the idea.

I've revisited the game and now have finished it. I got rid of the cockpit view and went to roof top camera. The cockpit view was just wrong, and that blurry gimmick was annoying.

I'm now just hotlapping at the 'ring, which is still a challenge in the sub-6:50s
