Did anyone else notice the commentary team at Albert Park were Channel 10 rejects? Crompton, McConville, Louise Goodman, Peter Windsor, probably more.

What really, really annoyed me was that I had no alternative but to watch them and listen to their godawful commentary. MotoGP is no longer available on Foxtel.

But the Superbikes still are and they put on the usual good show in Sunday night.

Coudn't agree more. It was like heaven listening to Nick Harris for the highlights of 125's and Moto2. Do Rust and Beattie do the commentary for those two classes live or do they allow the more professional Brits do it?

Didn't watch 125s or Moto2 the other day, so not sure. Those clowns wouldn't know any of the riders so it would foolish for them to try............
Over on the MotoGP/WSBK thread, they bag Harris for his commentary, clearly they haven't heard the Aussies.

Yes - which shows the depth of commentary of F1 in Oz.......one of them knows F1 well but commentates on V8SC, one commentates on F1 and knows little about it, one of them is fantastic value whatever she does and the other one was cheap as chips.
Windsor didn't add a great deal other than speculation during the weekend. I'd think Crompton and Goodman in the "studio" (tent in the food and beer court!) would have done fantastically well over the weekend. Not sure that McConville and Windsor added much.....

I just wish I heard them ask Windsor what went wrong with USF1, if they did, I missed it. : (

Happy Anzac day weekend guys.
Pleasantly surprised to see that qualifying (in Melbourne at least) was telecast at the live(ish?) time of 10.30 on Saturday night.
Unfortunately I assumed it would be delayed until about 1am, and didn't bother to check the TV guide before getting stuck into a movie..

um I pay 86 per month for everything so im not sure where your getting that from
if your a smoker or a drinker or go to the movies often then youd spend more than 100 for a month easally
and besides if you had a brain you would realise its more than just the ads - sport on telly at the time it is actually playing as apose to 5hr to a week delyaed depending on how lucky we are, without interuptions and commentators who actally know what they are saying/doing is worth every penny

Um... my comment wasn't aimed at you personally - but if
you had a brain you'd remember the selling point of Foxtel when it first came in was that it was supposed to have
no ads.
My father has Foxtel, and personally I can't justify spending the cash when I can generally see most of what I want to see on FTA. And if I can't see it on FTA I can download it.
If you can justify the cost then bully for you - I can't myself...

There are no ads during any sport unless its from an overseas feed where they put ads in (nothing they can do about that). Also if your in australia and your downloading tv from the net (which we all do) then your paying for it seeming our download limits are very small compared to other countries.

Yeh foxsports motogp was first class.
I think for 1 race One/Ten had their own guys doing commentary.. hated it, but next race they went back to live feed commentary team foxsports used.
We finally get OneHD up here (regional area) only to find F1 races are all 30min delayed. wtf.
They said due to the time zone differences between NT and other states there is a half hour delay on One HD and this unavoidable.
Good thing i didn't take down my sat dish as i can get live F1 from Indonesia and not Australia. FFS.

Foxtel shits all over anything FTA when it comes to sport. Yeah...you have to pay, but given the various ways people find to piss money up against the wall these days, on a regular basis, I'd say the pay per month excuse is well worn out.
I'd love for a brilliant F1 coverage to be on Fox Sports and I'd pay, in fact I hope it happens one day. It's the only way you will get great coverage of F1 in Australia.
When they were doing MotoGP, it was fantastic.

I do know that but it was something like the equivalent of 8 cents a day years ago before all the Howard Government funding cuts, so not sure what it is now.
The UK tv licence was something like 127 quid - about 35pence a day - 3 years ago. The ABC does a pretty good job with the funding it gets but doesn't really compare with the BBC due to the massive amount of money the BBC gets to play with.

I'd suggest it's probably bang for your buck - Sprint Cup race coverage (probably) is more expensive than Nationwide coverage - though far less people watch sprint Cup races on Monday morning, rather than Nationwide races on Sunday morning. So I'd say it's just straight out value for money.

What - you're about to become eminently dissapointed that Heikki has been something other than a roving speedbump in the sport for the past 5 years or so? Most of us want to watch racing - not a ****ing civil libertarians motorsport event. He was slow - he wasn't in the race - he should have just got out of the way - the same way that Jordan and Minardi did for years without any hassles.
