Most of it seems positive. Thanks. Congratulations.
My only complaints are about the ratings, which I dislike, and the use of 'gender' rather than 'sex' (but maybe that came with the design? And anyway it's balanced by the use of 'emoticons' rather than 'smilies').

Perhaps at some point we can make a user preference for that, but we unlikely to turn it off globally. We went to some trouble to implement it in this software - it is not a standard feature and many people find it useful.

Don't like it. I find it, compared to the old one, the new one looks intrusive. Compared to a

The work has now been completed. Welcome to the upgraded Bulletin Board.

If the new look is not to your taste, and you'd prefer a bit more orange, you can choose a retro Atlas F1 theme for the Bulletin Board. Once logged in, the theme choice is available in the drop-down box (showing by default autosport.com) just above the Google Ads at the bottom of each page. Your choice will be stored with your profile and applies whenever you are logged in.
That's so much nicer!
The forum's a nice improvement overall.

I like the forum upgrade though. it's great to see Autosport on IPB. I'll sure miss seeing the Atlas F1 logo at the top of the forum though. I guess the Atlas "brand" is finally dead. Shame.

EDIT: Just found the Atlas skin! Love it! Thanks for keeping the old spirit alive, guys!

To clarify, that is certainly not the case. All members converted from the old software have no data protection preference until you specifically save either choice from the profile screen. Everyone should update their profiles anyway, as there are a lot of new features.

Yes, I'm afraid it did. Our old software was introduced in 2000 and was heavily customised to the site, beyond all recognition from the original version. We could no longer continue with the security risks that it posed - to the users - and the very old versions of server software that it required.
Even if we had moved to VBulletin 3, like Digital Spy use, there would have been major differences to get used to.
This is only the first day. As ever, we'll take all feedback on board and see what improvements can be rolled out in the coming days and weeks.
I have noticed that when I log into the forum, it tells me that my last visit was at 22.26hrs last night.
I have logged in and out a few times today. Should the last visit time not reflect that?

After ten years, any change was going to feel a bit strange....
But I don't like it. Mainly because everything is too big, and there's way too much white space/border padding. When you fist go in to RC, so much space is taken up you can't see the first thread proper. I'll post more later, but as a start, the poncy "" graphics need to go from the quote box. It adds nothing but lots of empty space vertically, especially when somebody has used a quote tag in their signature.

This. It really
is intrusive with my browser not maximized to full screen. It would be awesome if this could be made optional in the near future. Ditto the big cartoon-y quote marks, but I understand all this comes with the backend changes, since I've seen both elsewhere. Oh course, I'm just grumpy to lose the nice, magazine page-like feel of the old forum in favour of a look I quite dislike. As such, I'm going to keep flogging my "is ugliez!11!!" dead horse into the ground!
On the plus side, the fast reply option is a great addition (assuming it is new and I somehow missed it in the past...) that I'll use lots!

I love change. Good change, not just change.
BTW, the personal info options, for those into that sort of thing, seem vastly improved. Functionality-wise, the switchover is worth it. I expect security is quite improved as well. My big complaint is the generic and rather boxy blahness of the interface. But hey, design is what I do, so I'm just picky that way. I don't have any major problems; I'm only venting about a pet peeve.

OK, there are 2 main things that I would like back, if poss:
1. it used to be that the arrow for new posts would appear when there were new posts since the last visit to the board - i.e. not since the last visit to the thread. It meant I could find out where to start looking for new posts. That seems to be gone, the only way around it seems to be to click on the first topic when ready to close the browser;
2. making a read thread a different colour. That only seems to happen if you click on the thread title and not the "new posts" little box.
Other than that, seems fine to me.

remembered the point i wanted to make.
best thing about it is that bibendum has thrown up on it yet. (any idea when someone will, if ever, clean up autosport.com?).
one other bad point though
the name of the person quoted is tiny, making it hard to scan and find anything someone has replied to you on.
also the date and time read the wrong way round with the @ sign.
you have plenty of space to make that larger if you keep the quote marks
if there were some button to allow you to see who has quoted you, then even better. is that possible?

Not bad, and seems to run faster than the old one. However I have too agree with somone above that everything is too big now. Huge bars over each post, bars over quotes, big buttons everywhere ("top" and "report" are the ones most blatantly oversized), etc... A bit more of margin/padding over the forums content would be useful though. All those things could be easily tweaked with stylesheets though, so congrats on good job, but please work on it some more

Within the bounds of the new software, it is available already. Obviously it can't be identical because much of the furniture has changed.

Previously beautiful code formatted text looks arsey in many ways now:
http://forums.autosport.com/index.php?showtopic=108193What's with the spacing between rows in my opening post there? It looks better in brunopascal's reply. Maybe it's related to my text there being copied from a text file, but then that's the only way to maintain a level of sanity when doing posts like that.
And bolding etc doesn't get recognised while used in code brackets, but seems to work using codebox:
CODE
[b]exhibit a: code[/b]
CODE
exhibit b: codebox
But then that codebox seems to add heaps of white space in my example above! I'd like the best of both worlds, ie properly bolded text not surrounded by lots of nothing.

http://forums.autosport.com/index.php#post2492387Thread details completely lost!!!

I noticed that earlier in the shareholder's thread that an added blank row is between each row written under the code function.
After I pointed it out earlier in this thread, Hack changed the edit-time limit, so I went back to the shareholder's thread and edited it.
It seems this happened during conversion from the old design to the new. You basically have to edit all posts to remove the added blank rows.
