new to the bb, but have read it for a long time now. With all the talk about the british grand prix being negative, i thought i would turn it around and see who is going to the race this year?

Are you camping? If so where? There are a few great sites. I am camping in the marshals site I think. (still working on that )

Kangaroo tv? Are they worth it? I saw a promo code the other day which makes them cheaper, but don't know if I want to get one or not, reviews would be most welcome. How good are they? (the promo code by the way was SILGP09 and i think you have to go through this page http://www.kangaroo.tv/f1/silverstone/ in case the credit crunch has hit and you want to sort it now.)

seats. still haven't decided on a grandstand seat, any opinions on views? Is Vale good??

I camp out in the back of the car in the main car park. Lot of people do the same, very convenient for the gate in the morning.

I don't think the Kangaroo TV's are good value, but I know others think they are. It's very much a personal decision.

I'd recommend getting a grandstand seat. I know it costs more, but you are then guaranteed a good view, and you don't need to get up at a ridiculous time to try and get a decent spot. Think the gates open around 5 in the morning and there will be a queue of people by then all trying to get those prime positions.

Vale isn't a bad place to be. My personal favourite is Stowe. From there you are looking right up Hanger Straight and can see the action all the way round to Bridge.

Well my 2p's worth.

Camping: For the last few years I have camped at the Silverstone Recreation Association site in Silverstone village. It's a 15-20 walk to the Circuit but the atmosphere is excellent the facilities okay and it's well run and managed (I camp with my 12 YO son and wife and some of the other camp sites are a bit of a zoo)

Kangaroo TV: Used it for the first time last year and I'd say it's absolutely invaluable (you just have to remember to look up sometimes)

Seating: I have GA tickets for my family (there are 5 of us in all) and we always watch from Vale so actually I'm really worried about the new Grandstand you are being offered tickets to! The cars are a little way a way at Vale but the view from the GA spectator bank is fantastic (I just hope it's still there!) you can see them come down the hangar straight through Stow, Vale and out or Club all the way up to Abbey.

Kangaroo TV was invaluable at Le Mans. I'd expect it would be the same at a GP to keep track of who's racing who. You get timing info too.

You'll get BBC Five Live coverage which is good.

If you've got a discount on one, then it's worth trying it to see for yourself. I was impressed.

Also a first time poster despite being a reader for a long while. By a happy coincidence, after much umming and aahing, I bought my tickets earlier this week and thought I'd take a punt on Vale grandstand seats, so I'm pleased that the views from the banking sound great. Planning to use the roving ticket to sit in the start finish straight grandstand for Quali though.

Additionally, can I just clarify then that the organisers don't mind you sleeping in your car? I wasn't sure if that counted as camping in the car parks!! In the past I've either driven home on the Saturday night or tried to get into a reasonably near hotel.

The start/finish line is not actually a great place to watch from as you only see the cars for a few seconds per lap. I usually watch Q from Luffield. From there you can see them through the slow section and all the way down the main straight.

Never had a problem camping in the car park. We are there from the friday, loads of people do it and we often see the same guys from previous GP's. In the evening we just sit around, have a BBQ and numerous beers. In the morning there is the smell of frying eggs and bacon all around. There are toilets and wash room so it's actually quite civilised. The fairground is just across the road if you want that, but we are usually knackered from wandering around all day and can't be bothered with it.

I do want to get Kangaroo TV but the site says you need a credit card to guarantee that you do not steal the set, does anyone know if a debit card can be used instead of a credit card?

Yeh, it seemed to work for me. I have booked my kangaroo tv set now, i used that discount code above too so it only cost me £60, which is damn sight better than the £75 that the robbing gets are charging without the code.

i was but supposibly have someone interested in the hippo. they cant do anything till next weekend though. not counting on them actually buying it, none the less, i better stay off it just in case.

Hi Guys, sorry i'm not wishing to hijack a thread but it seems silly to start another one.

Last year I camped in a campsite (field) that was located past the 2nd roundabout if heading past the front of the circuit from the A43, just round the corner on the left hand side was a site that you could pay on entry (no pre booking at all). However, I can't remember for the life of me 1. What it was called or 2. how much it was! I think it was a tenner per vehicle, per night but not sure.

Can anyone put me out of my misery?!
