Can't answer Question 1 but you might find camping info on the Monzanet site http://www.monzanet.it/eng/campeggi.aspx

Transport from Malpensa to Milan is easy and cheap. The airport shuttle bus picks up outside the terminal & drops you at Central Station (Stazione Centrale.) http://www.toandfromtheairport.com/milan.html#MXP

You can get the train from Centrale direct to Monza - takes about 15 minutes. There are free buses from Monza station to the circuit. http://www.monzanet.it/eng/come_raggiungerci.aspx

Hope this helps & hope you have a great time.

Hi mate,

I camped when I went in 2007. I didn't book at all, just rolled up to the campground outside the circuit up by the first Lesmo. I was charged 20 euros for four nights! I think if you just have a tent you could sneak in after dark pretty easily.

The camp is right next to the little train stop which rans all the way back to Milan. I think this is only used after the race to get all the spectators back.

The camp is really fun, heaps of Dutch/German/French/Italian/pan-European campers with massive beer wagons and loud music systems having a massive party. So take your earplugs when you go to sleep! There are also food and beers stalls.

Not far from the camp ground is a small supermarket so you can stock up on beers and food to take into the circuit.

They won't do bag checks at Monza at all, so take in whatever you want. I even saw some guys carrying in scaffolding!

If you're going General Admission (which is the way to do it, there are heaps of bleachers to stand on) I'd recommend getting in early.

Most of the young Italian fans will camp inside the circuit (illegally) overnight, and by the time of race day morning they've taken over all the best spots and errected massive awnings and rain shields. You won't be able to get near these enclousres without risking a massive punch up!

But there are heaps of other good spots to get a cool view. I'd recommend either of the lesmos or the back straight, especially the tunnel where it runs under the old circuit. There aren't many people down here and you can get awfully close to an F1 car at full speed. Magic.

In 2007 my total budget, including flights from London, GA tickets and transport was 400 quid. From memory I came home with change in my pocket. Awesome.

4 of us are taking a roadtrip to Monza this year... we are driving from the UK , leaving on the Wednesday morning, planning to arrive in Monza around lunchtime on Thursday... Ideally we want to camp next to the track, but are concerned that the site will already be full.. does anyone know of any other camp sites within walking distance of the track, that can be pre-booked as a reserve option?

Thanks in advance..

Camped in 2001 provided it hasn't changed - and I can't see why it would - even if you get there on Friday you should get a spot. It is a massive field right next to the track: forget Silverstone, it sounds like the cars are about half a mile closer though it's obscured by dense woodland.

One thing I would say is keep all your belongings - especially your tickets - in the tent with you in fact, sleep with your wallet, camera, car keys, etc. either in the middle of the tent or in the sleeping bag. Absolutely everyone was done near us when we were there and I hear similar tales every year; principally they appear to want the tickets so they can flog them on but if you leave your car keys near the opening they will get in your car and empty it before you know it.

Camping at Monza is brilliant. Copy and paste this number into Google Maps and then zoom in on the green arrow: 45.624334,9.281504

That is the campsite that is on this link: http://www.monzanet.it/eng/campeggi.aspx

If you get to know the right people you can see the track without a ticket by sitting on the roof of a camper van that is parked against the fence!

I've been to Monza 6 times. Going to my first ever Grand Prix at Spa this year. Have fun! cool.gif

Does anyone know if you can camp there on Sunday night, after the race? I've booked a hotel in Milan for the Thursday, but was planning on camping Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The only flight I could get Sunday was for 3pm, during the race, so I had to fly back Monday. Will I able to camp, or will it be a long night at the airport?
