I will be doing incident/fire. I normally marshal in the UK and have done the last 2 British GP's. It will my 1st time marshaling abroad. From the info I have seen the GP will be the 1st meeting at the circuit

Bruno on the new circuit. Sounds pretty awesome to me.

While he can't righly say "it's going to suck", I think a lot of people jumpd to conclusions about the circuit. You know, that it's a Tilkedrome, that it's in the middle of nowhere, that it's inferior to Interlagos and doesn't deserve to be the last race of the season. But I honestly think the circuit could really surprise. Yes, there's the stadard super-long straight with sharp corner at the end of it. But there's also a tight corner leading in, and so a mistake there will influence speed going onto the straight and consequently affect the maximum speed a car can achieve. And there's three distinct sections of circuit: the flowing section from the Start Line to the giant hairpin, the long straight followed by stop-start corners and then another long straight with stop-start corners at the end, and then a technical section to finish off the lap. Plus, the section aroudn turns two and three as conceived as a "reverse Eau Rouge" with the cars going overa blind crest instead of through a gully.

Certainly appears like it will be better than Valencia in terms of a 'habour circuit'

May not be Brazil and may not deserve to the be the last race, but Suzuka takes it over Brazil ;-)!

The 40,000 slave workers building this thing are the poor and hungry...

(For those who won't or can't be bothered to read any of this, simply put, even if the workers are being paid at all, it's still going to take them two years to re-pay the fee to get them there in the first place, an illegal fee that's supposed to be paid by the employer...)

Any more detailed pics of this tunnel or the grandstands over the runoff?

That's a brilliant idea BTW, just raise the grandstands a few meters and voila, you still have runoff but nice close view of the action.

I have been selected to Marshal at the GP this year. Should be a good experience.

What did you have to do to apply for this job?

BTW. Watch outy for flying wheels...

The 1st event at Yas Marina is a GP2 test the weekend before the race.
To apply I have been marshaling at UK circuits for about 5 years including 2 British GP's. Letters were sent out to all Marshals that had done events fro BARC (British Automobile Racing Club) where we were asked to fill out our experience. Out of that they selected the marshals to go and luckily I was one out of the 300 selected.

I know. I'm wondering why someone hasn't thought of it sooner.

I'm also liking Senna's description of the way the cars get very close to the walls through the final section. A new Wall of Champions, anyone?
