Roller Coaster inside Ferrari World under construction
This photo was taken last week and this coaster is suppose to reach speeds up to 150mph.
Due for completion in 2010 is the new Warner Bros. inspired Ferrari World. This Theme Park is to be on line by Nov. 1st for the Grand Prix.
Here is a video showing what it is expected to have.

Does anyone know how much this Ferrari World is going to cost when it's finished? Also how involved is Ferrari? I know there is sponsorship involved too. The link to Yas Island shows a pretty impressive effort; and the facility is huge. I bet the driving school would be an an exceptional experience.
Good job Jerry!

This is to be a World Class hotel. From what I am told more like "Out of this World" would describe it better. Here is a site that describes the Hotel complex:

If you noticed, I posted @ 14:33. All I seen then was "Due for completion in 2010 is the new Warner Bros. inspired Ferrari World" - I thought "WTF?" as it seemed like it had nothing to do with the title. The OP edited his post @ 14:56 so it was a tad more understandable.

Yas Island Hotel as seen from Marina
This Marina complex had no water in it 2 weeks before this picture was taken. The figure 36 Billion Dollars has been used for the cost of the Marina and hotel Complex.
DMN: I now understand your confusion. I have to resize these photos and download them before I can post them. This is what took the extra time. I am sure you will understand this post as I put up more of the pictures .

Did they make it out of gold or what?! Sorry but the real figure is IMO 10 times smaller at least.

Though 7 hotels are planned, only the main hotel will completed by 1 November, so I don't know where the race fans are going to stay. The race itself is completely sold out. I suspect some hospitality companies have a bought them and that they will jack the prices up just bit!
If anyone is going I have some friends who have an apartment for rent that weekend.

Jano: I know you don't believe the figure 36 Billion. I didn't either. I have been told it won't come in at that figure.
They have employed, I hear 40,000 workers to bring this project in on time. I am told the real figure may reach 100 Billion.

Yes that is a hairy hand. As to the yachts, what if they can't get into the Marina because the clearance on the bridge is not sufficient? Several people were in that car with "hairy hand" and they ALL thought it was a potential problem. I'm not trying to shit stir because I know they will fix the problem. It's just a bump in the road, but a significant bump non-the-less.

Well if a razor won't work then maybe Nair? There's also a product called Magic Shave Powder which is really good.
I don't recommend Nad's or waxing, they're both expensive and very painful.

What they first told, when they had presented that project in the dubai seminar was that the figure was about 50 bi, not just the track or the marina or ferrari world, but for the whole YAS ISLAND, yeah ridiculous as it may sound, well it also looked ridiculous, but as these pictures shows, they are really doing it, it's just unbeleivable.
I have no idea where this kind of money comes in, I don't know if the 40.000 people are working on the same laboring ways that they use someplaces in dubai (almost slavery) but i gotta admit, there are some creative people out there, because it just looks like something out of this planet. I don't know about the race itself, if it will be good, i still think it shouldn't stay as the last race on the calender.
Magnificent island, ah if you have the money the emirates is the place to live isn't it, and now with f1? gee forget it!
I am currently living in Muscat.
I was thinking of going to this race but was not able to find any accommodation in Abu Dhabi, There are Hotel rooms available in Dubai though it takes 1 1/2 hours to get to Abu Dhabi from Dubai.
There were ticket available when I tried to get some last week the price was 500 us dollars each, Is this normal for main grandstand?

Unfortunately the cost of living in this part of the world has increase considerably in the last few years. It is far cheaper to live in places like Malaysia and you don't have to live
through these stinking hot summers.( Today in Muscat it was 47c)
I suppose this would be a good enough reason why Ferrari would let them build the first Ferrari complex in Abu Dhabi. (and the bottomless pit that is A.D.)
An investment group owned by the government of oil-rich Abu Dhabi in July bought a five per cent stake in Ferrari for $A122.9 million dollars.

Just thinking that with Ferrariworld being there and potentially no Ferrari after this season, what happens?
David M. Kane
Jun 14 2009, 23:26
The contract calls for 2009-2016, you're point is a very good one. The UAE will NOT be happy with Max if he screws this up just like the rest of us.

Jun 15 2009, 01:20
The mess keeps getting bigger and bigger, one company will sue here, other there, it's endless contracts, and it's billions of dollars, There is just no way for max to keep it up, now that the teams are finally doing what they should have done decades ago, take control of the rules.
Does anyone know what races will be held at the track before the F1 Grand Prix?
They ran sports cars and F3 at Valencia about a month before the F1 race.

The Grid-Shell visually connects and fuses the entire complex together while producing optical effects and spectral reflections that play against the surrounding sky, sea and desert landscape. The architecture as a whole “performs” as both an environmentally responsive solution as well as an architecture of spectacle and event. The entire jewel-like composition of the project responds visually and tectonically to its environment to create a distinct and powerful sense of place as well as a breathtaking backdrop to the Formula 1
