My girlfriend has a complete set of F1 programmes from 1997. They're all in excellent condition and have some extras, such as press notes from the European GP, the Japanese translation card for Suzuka, and the racecard from Silverstone.
She's looking to sell them and I wondered if anybody could give a rough estimate as to their value. I'm a little uncertain but reckon it should fetch a tidy sum as it is complete, in very good condition (8/10 - mostly just some wear on the edges and a few creases) and has things that only people in F1 could get, such as the press notes.
Any educated guesses?
Hello Flynnie,
Individually, these relatively recent Grand Prix programmes don't sell for a great deal - have a look at ebay, 'motor sport memorabilia, programmes'. Bulk lots will bring the average item price down further and, given the weight of these fairly large modern programmes, might force you to deliver or offer 'pick-up only'. The extra 'goodies' might help. If you're prepared to list some individually, with photos of programme and extras, these might sell well. If you don't have racecards for each programme this will reduce their value - most collectors consider racecards, either blank or annotated, as a key part of a programme. Time sheets, press notes etc....these are 'extras'. Programmes from certain remote or obscure races might be worth more - again check out 'completed sales' on ebay or the websites of the established motor sport book and memorabilia sellers.
You could always try a bulk sale on ebay...one photo...one listing description. Nothing to lose. Or you might find some archive (BRDC, Gaydon etc. that might be interested, but I would expect them to want programmes with racecards, not just the 'magazine' portion).
Good luck.
