does it matter? some ex-drivers make laps in a kart for fun, Michael does it with a motor, big deal. But some here really think he's in a real race class with those two wheels but none of his competitors were proferssional racers on two wheels. It's a day in the park and just to relax. It's not on a proffesional level, not much competition/stress and all not all to fast as well.
Lets see Schumacher v Hill again on two wheels! Now that would be great!
And to be honnest here, I would like to see that to, only I am 110% sure Schumacher would never ever do that. Damon just isn't an amateur (like MS) in that class of sport, so I am able to even BET that Schumacher never ever would DARE to race Damon Hill on two wheels.
If so; Schumacher would be lapped by Hill. Wanna bet?

I agree. I like both Schumi and Damon, as you can tell by my avatar, but Schumi has always distanced himself from a challenge - the real reason he didn't want to partner Kimi, as we know.
Damon's first love was 2 wheels and I think he would decimate Schumi on the track.
Schumi obviously needs to change his braking style as was mentioned by his biking friend or he won't improve.

In his defence, I believe his concern is for the safety standards rather than of his abilities there, and it would also be a step backwards considering his achievements. In any case, I would have thought his ability to drive right on the edge suggests he would perform pretty well on ovals.

Yes Frans, of course you are always right.
This Sunday Schumacher will take part in the Trofeo KTM race at Misano, riding a KTM Superduke 990. The weather wasn't so good today but he got to know the circuit.
Schumacher: ''I simply have fun riding a bike. But I don't have special ambitions to enter any racing series. When I ride every now and then, then it's just because I feel like competing and having a good time. I don't want to get back into the same 'machinery' (F1) I left at the end of 2006. And I'm not overconfident either thinking I could still enrol myself in a professional racing series. That's not what I want at all. I simply want to test myself on two wheels: and one thing is clear at that: like in Formula 1 I do mind not to overdo things.''

Thanks for the info, AFCA!
Schumacher: ''I've been skiing with Corinna and my kids for a few days, now I can spend my spare time the way I want, without planning anything. Skiing, riding horses and bikes, playing football, apart from being commited to some things not too burdensome, I can enjoy the quiet life of a pensioner.''
Q: But you're on track with a bike the whole time now...
Schumacher: ''But this is just having fun also, no-one forces me to do it. The races in Hungary a week ago and that in Barcelona were only 'test races'. In Spain there were some guys that were testing bikes and I proposed to do a race with them. I won the race but they were young guys. Here (in Misano), instead, this will be a real race, the first official one I will participate in and I don't even know if it will have a continuation in a month time. It will depend on how much I want it and how this race goes.''
Q: Does it depend on whether you win, or on less ?
Schumacher: ''Are you joking ? Here it will be impossible to win, there are real riders here, very well prepared, they're basically professionals whereas I am a simple amateur, a pensioner. I would already be happy if I qualify for the race, I've been riding on the track for a bit and it seems pretty tricky with a lot of corners. And if it were to rain, for me the level of difficulty would increase (even) more.''
Q: Have you seen Ferrari immediately fought back in Malaysia ?
Schumacher: ''Certainly. In Australia only exceptional things happened which are hard to repeat once the reasons behind them have been identified. In Malaysia you saw the real Ferrari and the tifosi can be calm because we will see the team like that again.''
Well done Schumi !! He got third in qualifying while he had doubts whether he would qualify at all ! He did a 1:52.201, which was his last lap of a 10 lap stint in which he kept going faster. Journalist Padovani conquered the pole with a 1:50.386.
''It was great fun, I would also have been happy if I had qualified in the middle of the pack.''

I admire his natural skills. I don't dream of him racing again regularly, but it's fun seeing him have fun and letting his fans know that his talent wasn't limited to one field. He probably wouldn't even qualify in a MotoGP race, but who cares, he's out having fun and let's face it on motorbikes he's an amateur, so comparing him to real professionals is a bit much.

I love the thing where everyone is starting to use words like 'probably'. No-one actually dares underestimate the great man none of us dare to guess what his limits are for risk of being continuously surprised like this.
I actually do think he could qualify for a MotoGP race...if or when he thinks he can that is.
Terni (one of the other riders) : ''It was great racing with a myth like Schumacher, we've been surpassing one another well over four times. He's a real computer on the saddle also, he's very precise in everything because he braked and leant in the corner always at the same spot.''
Schumacher: ''I would also have been happy to ride laptimes in the 1:50's (his fastest time was a 1:46.6 - AFCA), I've been going half a second faster than that, for me a great succes. But please don't ask me when I'll ride again, I no longer want to plan anything in life, when I feel like riding again I do it and that's it.''
Friend Badoer was in the pitbox also: ''Michael certainly had fun. His start was a pity (he fell back to 14th place - AFCA), with the pace he had he might have been able to win the race !''
The people at KTM hope Schumi will be with them again at Mugello in August.

8 seconds off the fastest time and 5 seconds off the slowest time.
this is more or less how far off was Rossi on the Ferrari F1 car.
hopefully we won't break his neck or something

Schumi set his best time at very low temperatures (max. 5 C).
19-yeard old testrider Canepa: ''We testriders ride laptimes of around 1:55 or 1:56 in this kind of weather. So Schumi was only two seconds slower than us.''

that's misleading,
8 seconds off absolute best time on 2007 (two thousand SEVEN) Italy GP which was done in different weather. Can't compare.
