I am also surprised Sato does not even make this list, as compared to some names.
Sato proved in winter tesing he still has some speed and I believe should be given a chance to show it.
Personally I would like to see Hulkenberg released to join BMW,
Kubica released to join Ferrari,
Sato given a chance at Renault...
Just my personal thoughts...

Some of the choices on this list are so unrealistic it's untrue.
Giovanardi? No chance and you know it
Bertolini? No chance and you know it
Priaulx? No chance and you know it
Rossi? No chance and you know it
Vilander? No chance and you know it
Same goes for numerous other drivers on your list. You must have been drinking or something when putting this list together, as there aren't very many realistic choices on it.

Don't get me wrong it would be good to see, it'd certainly be something different, but realistically (for this season at least) it's just not going to happen. In future maybe, but not this season.

Mika Salo told a story in todays Finnish paper, that when he went to Todt`s office in 99 to hear he was chosen Badoer was crying in the corner saying "Why not me,Why not me?" Im glad that Luca gets the chance now, because then Todt didnt want Italian in the car, because pressure would have crushed him. I chosed A.Davidson, because he always seemed fast and i think he hasnt have a fair chance in F1,but someone always gets screwed over in F1.
what do u think michael suddenly gets better and comes in for a few races??? he would be great around spa

Indeed, age before beauty!
On that basis, I nominate Slartibartfast. But on the outside chance that after a day testing the f2007 he turns out to have a fitness problem, then Amanda Whitaker may be available.

Luca is a test and reserve driver, so clearly he is the guy to go in reserve.
Personally, I would rather Alonso drives the Ferrari for the rest of this season, and beyond.
With all due respect to Luca, he will not make Q2 in quali. Simply because he hasn't raced for the last decade, and testing restrictions have sidelined him.
If Luca makes Q3, I will eat my hat, infact if Luca makes Q2, I will make my avatar a picture of Luca.
Best of luck, but he will be shit.
Kevin Magnussen.
No, seriously, Stick with Badoer. They will get tons of testing feedback out of him, even IF his results might not match Kimi.
But let's wait and see. I have faith in Luca.

Most likely candidates (please dont have a go at me) are
LB, MG, FM, MS (now I'm going to cringe in anticipation of eggs being thrown at me) FA.
The reason I mentioned my last choice is because although it will cost a few mills to get him out of the contract, Santander are supposed to announcing their Ferrari sponsorship at Monza, what a coup if they announce their sponsorship at the same race Alonso makes his debuts with Ferrari. Max exposure. Luca does a couple of races in a Ferrari, then switches to Renault for the rest of the season and Kubica comes in next year.
There is a womans logic in there (somewhere

).

I'm stunned that no-one so far has found this to be an absolute lack of respect to Badoer.
The very minimum anyone should wait before opening this kind of thread is after qualifying, and only if the guy can't get through Q1.
Just my two cents.

OK, after this disastrous showing by Badoer, now it's the right time to start speculating about the future.
In fact I think the worst thing is not that he's been slow, but that he's been unable to combine his best sectors over a single lap.

The next driver change is their last one this year, so it's EITHER Michael OR someone else, before Massa returns. If they think MS will be fit they'll have to stay with Badoer, otherwise ....well there isn't anyone, it's something they thought they had planned for but they hadn't, in fact. Davidson, least hopeless option by far.
A lot of teams will be looking more closely at their 3rd driver now.

I'm puzzled why Anthony Davidson seems to be way below everyone's radar in all those 'who will drive where' threads. Proven test driver, decent race pace, drove a F1 car recently, not too old, definitely motivated to show what he is worth.
I don't know, he seems to turn up pretty regularly in these threads as far as I can see and this one is quite odd in that he's not there. He's the classic "Popular native english-speaking driver who is obviously quite quick but has no money, never gets the breaks and is never in the right car at the right time". A regular Perry McCarthy for the noughties. Other recent nominee: Adam Carroll.
There must be a whole telephone book of these "nice guys who never quite made it" somewhere. "Classic era" member - Mike Thackwell?

Stevie Wonder could hit the apexes better than Badoer. The guy is useless and a embarrassment to F1. Badoer is the definition of a pay driver. Got a lucky break to be a test driver for Ferrari and for services served, he is being rewarded with Massa's drive until he has recovered. I'll give badoer until his home race in Monza and if he is still crap, then replace him. In reality Badoer has been a loyal servant to Ferrari, this is Luca's payback. Ferrari's season is effectivly over and Badoer peddling around will not change anything. With Alonso arriving 2010, which of the present contracted Ferrari drivers will be shown the door, is moor interesting than Badoer being a slow-coach.

Badoer was F3000 champion. He's not useless, but he hasn't raced for ten years and he wasn't allowed to test this year's car at all! I don't think anyone would have been particularly quick under those circumstances.

Not quick, close would be nice but I understand your sentiment. To be honest, I'm surprise that Ferrari didn't know he was going to be this slow. I'm sure they would have got him on the simulators before coming to Valencia.
