After my less-than-successful question on the Trophee de l'avenir 1978 let's try another one drunk.gif

I have been helped tremendously on the BSCC history by Vince Feeney; but for 1979, the last race (round 11, don't know the venue and the date must be later than 23 sept 1979 since that was round 10, Snetterton) is missing completely. Could anyone here find the results of that race and give perhaps a short report of two or three lines on that race?
Furthermore, if there's a points table of the championship out there somewhere it would save me a lot of time.

The reward is, as ever, that you'll find the 1979 BSCC on my site in a few weeks, and your name in the long, long list of contributors - if it isn't there already!

29th September at Oulton Park - will dig out the results now.

New Lap Records in every class, race won by Stuart Graham with Walkinshaw 5th, winning his class. (Dad retired with gearbox problems).
The smaller race was won by Richard Lloyd with Richard Longman 5th and winning the smaller class.

If you need any info just shout, I have the official results and Autosport.

Were the L'Avenir races you wanted in 1976 or 1978?

Your previous thread was for 1976 and I could find no races on those dates mentioned.

1976 it was, though I still miss some results for 1978 as well, like the Silverstone TT (which had two races: the ETCC group 2 race and a separate Avenir race).
I guess the 1976 Estoril and Kraljevo races were probably only covered in the Portuguese and Yugoslav press of the time.
Frank de Jong
Gregor, did you find anything yet?
Milan Fistonic
The results as published in Motoring News.

Frank de Jong
Great Milan, thanks. I'm very happy with the "provisional" points standings too.

There was a brief report in Auto Italiana on the Estoril race, round 1 of the "Trofeo dell'Avvenire", held on 28 March, 1976.

The race was won by Pedro Cortez/ Domingos Sa Nogueira in an Opel Commodore, after the Moutinho/Santos Opel Commodore retired.

Second was Bello/Bernardo (Alfa Romeo GTV) who also covered the full 70 laps (2 x 35 laps).

Third was Carvalho/Correia in another Opel Commodore, also on 70 laps, followed by Ferreira/Simoes (Alfa Romep 1300) and Leitao/Breyner (Opel Ascona) both two laps down.

There were 21 starters.

That's great John! I have a bunch of pictures for that race which I can use now (and it shows a lot of Commodores, even a Commodore A coupe. And there's this green Daf 66...
Thanks.

Martin Brundle drove a Toyota Celica?
He was only 20 years old then, interesting.
Does anybody have a picture of that?
Frank de Jong
Yes, he did and not too bad either. Don't have a picture of him so far.

mad.gif why does Image Shack fail tonight, just as I wanted to enter the Oulton results?
stoned.gif ah, it's working again
Frank de Jong
With the results quite complete now, it's the points system which drives me nuts once again. ambivalent.gif
Does anyone have a points table of 1979?
