Fernando deal is not off ,because there NEVER was a Fernado deal with Ferrari.
Kimi stays 2010 in Ferrari 100%

Why would Montezemolo need to say such thing if Kimi and Massa were to be the 2010 drivers.
He's preparing the terrain for the Alonso announcement and making sure that he - Ferrari - choose Alonso and not by imposition of Santander.

Actually I thing Santander joins Ferrari because Ferrari signed Alonso and not the opposite.

Santander joins Ferrari because of Latin America and Brazil market. In other way Monte would announced Alonso and then sponsors.
Lennat
To me his speech indicates that Alonso is arriving. He would have been more straight to the point about it otherwise.

Believe me, the Alonso-Ferrari thing is a done deal.

I know Alonso personally since 1999, and although its not my friend, I know how to read into his expressions and declarations.
I never believed all the fuss about the Ferrari link past years, but this year I know its true.

Trust me, or not...

Engel and Fallout, I am not FENIX.

I have no proof, and I am not pretending to have "inside sources".

It's just my opinion, but I think I have more elements than you to make such a statement.

Of course I can be wrong, but I don't think so...

Only time will tell...

So far we 've had

guy who works for shell told his cousin that he saw the Alonso contract

insider said Alonso/Ferrari announcement would be up on their websites Monday .. no Tuesday ... by 6 pm ... no sometime this week *trust me or not*

and now we get

I know Alonso, I can tell from his *expressions* he's signed for Ferrari *trust me or not*

I wonder ... if he's signed for say McLaren, he has different expressions? Like Ferrari = His right ear twitches, McLaren = He picks his right nostril with his left index finger? Alonso must suck at poker.

Why do you guys need to sell this story so damn desperately? Let it play out, if he signs for Ferrari he signs for Ferrari, but with you guys when one "trust me 100% sure I know" theory is sent to the crapper, you come up with another one.Ad nauseum.

believe it or not, there are lots of guys close to fernando, and these guys know things nobody else does, and all of them agree the deal is done, and all of them confirm it publicly including lobato, I would seriously love to be wrong, but the deal is done 100%, otherwise these guys would not make it public in forums or blogs

Lobato also said Alonso would move to Ferrari ... in the middle of the 2007 season (when McLaren wasn't working for him)
Then he said he would move to Ferrari in 2008 (Lobato was firing Massa back then)
And when Ferrari confirmed for the 100th time Raikkonen and Massa were driving in 2008 Lobato decided Alonso would take a sabbatical in 2008 or even possibly retire.

It's surprising how little weight a guy's history carries when evaluating his "for sure" stories :S

one thing is what you say as a journalist and other very different what you say as friend,
listen I don't try to convince you at all, I would not like to see fernando in ferrari, but I guarantee the deal is done, it's just a matter of time, I personally think the announcement won't be in monza but in cheste, during the annual ferrari season closure in november

I think it's fair to say Nelsinho Piquet's chances of ever driving in Formula One are pretty low given the way he's trying to take down his old team.

I'd put my money on Nico going to Brawn GP. This is probably a direct result of McLaren digging their heels over Kimi, rather than Nico, as a possible replacement for HK.

I also think that Nico will go to Brawn, and if Kimi against all the odd's stays in Ferrari the game winner is Heikki who will get his 3rd in McLaren...

Executive summry: Mercedes is said to be looking to buy a significant stake - 75% - of Brawn and gradually phase out their involvement wih McLaren. A part of this deal would see Nico Rosberg join the Brackley squad, probably to partner Jenson Button.

At least he got to drive in Formula One. After Andy Soucek's stunt in Belgium where he had the Coloni cars impounded over a dispute with previous owners Fisichella Motorsport, he's pretty much condemend himself to racing in the lower leagues forver. The Coloni incident gained Soucek nothing but petty retribution and a bad reputation, and I've heard that several teams are now looking at how much he's won in Formula Two as he apparently owes them money.

Actually, it might have been you who posted that last bit ...

ooooookaaay, so with Rosberg now going to Brawn (I think a good match? hmm), we have to fit Barri some where, or is it byebye? biggrin.gif

lolz, I have no idea where wud Barichello end up, Toyota?
potmotr
Why would Brawn take Rosberg over Barrichello?

Makes no sense. Rosberg is still an unknown quantity in a top team.

Barrichello is a proven performer.
Captain Tightpants
Because Rosberg might be a term of the Mercedes contract. Kind of like Kazuki Nakajima is at Williams, but proven to be quick.

He might do a do-se-do with Rosberg and go to Williams, especially if Williams were to get Mercedes engines with him. I think he'd get along famously with Sir Frank, and he's very experienced and still quick. He could be just what Williams are looking for to partner Nico Hulkenberg.

Otherwise, his talents would be invaluable to someone like Manor.

I can't see Ross Brawn interested in Nico, if it's true, it's probably due to Mercedes's influence.

Unfortunately these same people claimed the deal was DEFINATELY DONE in 2007 and 2008 as well, so they've lost all credibility as far as I am concerned.

2 things. Rubens may still win the WDC this year, you think Brawn are going to unseat their champ? Either one of them?
Rosberg imo will go to McLaren, as Frank will give him up for Merc engines.

Apparently Kubica is in the running for a Brawn seat, pending how long a contract he would get tied to, he doesn't want more than 1 year anywhere since 2011 he has a good shot a Ferrari seat (well assuming a good 2010 I guess).

Ferrari have put this out:

QUOTE
Ferrari has moved to clarify any gossip that the team's choice of drivers for 2010 may have been influenced by sponsors of the team. The Scuderia is set to confirm its partnership with Spanish bank Santander at Monza on Thursday, with many also expecting Fernando Alonso to soon be announced as a driver for next season.

With Santander set to make the move from McLaren to Ferrari, 2010 will be the company's fourth year of involvement in Formula One after entering with McLaren in 2007, the year Alonso joined the Woking team. However, di Montezemolo stresses that sponsor and driver selection remain sole decisions of Ferrari as opposed to shared ones with partners.

"As far as Ferrari is concerned, this will be a Grand Prix, which is traditionally not very good to us, but we will give it everything for a good result," the President of the Maranello team said. "I am happy that I've chosen an Italian driver, Fisichella, to race here and also Räikkönen is on great form.

"I'll be back here tomorrow (Thursday) to talk about a new partnership but that doesn't mean anything in terms of choices for the near future: I want to say it again, that the drivers are chosen by Ferrari and not by the sponsors."

Their intention is clear: if Alonso is joining Ferrari, it has nothing to do with Santander.

Next year we 'll have the polish dudes running the Kubica to Ferrari bandwagon ambivalent.gif

Seriously though, it's been suggested for a while that Kubica was only looking for a 1 year deal, with the view of applying for a Ferrari seat in 11. No clue why he thinks he has a shot at it or whatever but either way I seriously don't see Ross taking Kubica on for a year only.

If Kimi is dropped to make way for Alonso, and Massa cannot return for 2010, and Fisi turn out to be not even good enough to be a no.2, Kubica might have a shot. A lot of "If". I think Alonso would not be too pleased to be paired up with Kubica.

The Scuderia has a revolving option on Alonso. They have until tomorrow to exercise it to get Alonso in a Ferrari for 2010.

The option will not be exercised, Ferrari will pay Alonso a 2.5 million Euro penalty and the option will carry over to next year. Ferrari will use 2010 to gauge Raikkonen and Massa then decide who they keep, who they don't keep and if Alonso comes.

Spanish people can stop dreaming about Alonso in a Ferrari in 2010, or about Alonso being announced today, it will not happen.

And Montezemolo says hi to Lobato who thinks he's running the Scuderia.
