Seems so, though he still leaves it open, which is annoying. Just spit it out already!

What makes me think McLaren is waiting for Kimi is that they aren't announcing yet. If they want to sign Rosberg or Kovalainen, why don't they just do it. No reason to wait. They could pick anyone who doesn't have a contract, except maybe Button, if he's keen to stay at Brawn.

Everyone is waiting on the Alonso situation to be resolved, it has knock on effects right down the grid! It all starts with Alonso I'd reckon.

More likely it's starting with Kimi.
1/ Alonso wants to be in a red car.
2/ Kimi has a 2010 contract
3/ Kimi agree with Ferrari and the new team
4/ Alonso can join Ferrari

So both Ferrari and Mac (or other team) announcements going to be rather close in time...
Ferrari can't do anything until Kimi agree to move on and he do that when he has a new contract, not before.

I felt the need to jump in with that aside beacuse while LdM has said they haven't made up their minds just yet, a lot of people are assuming Alonso has already signed a contract. I thought it might do them well to be reminded that today's revelation about Ferrari's driver situation conclusively proves that Alonso hasn't signed anything and may not do so for some time to come.

How much more evidence do you guys need before you believe that Alonso to Ferrari is true in 2010.

1. Luca says we want Alonso some day
2. Luca confirms Raikonnen is not certain for 2010
3. Santander sign with Ferarri after learning Alonso is also going there, not Alonso goes to Ferrari after Santander does deal with Ferrari.
4. Raikkonen openly talking with other teams
5. Absolutley 0 rumours about Alonso searching for another drive apart from the link to Ferrari
6. Whitmarsh all but confirms it at Valencia

it all points to Ferrari Alonso in 2010. Its going to be a good thing, Lewis-Kimi in Mac and Alonso-Massa in Ferrari

No number 2 drivers at all in the big 2 teams. Awesome

top 3 drivers in the best cars(Alonso,Massa,Kimi)

Thats a good point that many have forgotton. A few years ago their were reports of alonso turning down toyota, and discussions regarding bmw , and we had honda publically beggging for alonso, yet this year nothing. No talk of alonso looking or of another team looking for him.

He might have signed a pre contract, or nothing, idk. But it's not really about a contract, is it? it comes down to how much Ferrari/Santander want Alonso in a red car. People are not assuming he's signed a contract, they're just assuming they will sign him when Raikkenonen situation is sorted out.

We don't even know if there is a deal. Go back and read LdM's comments; the only direct reference he makes is "a Spanish driver". He never mentions Alonso by name - he could be talking about Andy Soucek or Jaime Alguersuari - and he phrases it as a question. He never explicilty states that Ferrari are considering anyone, only that they'll "take a decision in a few weeks". For all we know, Ferrari are only just beginning to think about Raikkonen's status within the team.

Are you so stupid that you interpret the words said by LdM to think that Alonso doesn't have a signed multi-year contract with Ferrari starting from next year?

LdM is today in Madrid attending to MARCA Sport Forum (18.00). He will answer questions sent by readers of the website. Doubt he's going to say something interesting but there's going to be many questions about next year drivers (for sure).

Was being sarcastic. In today's F1 world one would be very stupid not to question what is written in the media, one day it's one thing and the next day another. Being critical to these sources is only common sense for everyone who doesn't have bulletproof inside information. The concrete things that most of us know is KR has a contract for 2010 and LdM is undecided about lineup, from these things it's a logical conclusion that things are still open, for reason or another (unless you read the Spanish press of course). Calling people stupid because they don't buy your stories... well, doesn't need to be commented on. Would be different if was someone like AFCA was reporting, but knowing the history from your previous posts and the ones of otoelpiloto ( "Alonso to Ferrari to be announced tomorrow"), it doesn't build up trust really, I'm sorry.

It's not good to call someone stupid, I agree. Sometimes you do things that are not so good, dont you agree? What got me going in the post we're discussing now, was the fingerpointing to people who believe Alonso has a signed contract with Ferrari, therefore my reaction.

The concrete thing I have is information that Ferrari wants to get rid of Raikkonen now. If I understand you right, you're not so sure. IMO when LdM says that Ferrari hasn't decided on the second driver yet, he's not telling the truth. You're absolutely entitled to take him exactly on his words, but I don't. The reason is that I know that Ferrari wants to get rid of Raikkonen [sorry to repeat myself] now.

Yeah it was wierd, you would think hed be pushing for Nico given the fact that he could end up with Raikonnen. They are friends and you would expect a compliment from Lewis about Nico, but he was very evasive and abrupt. I still think he'd need/rather Heikki

QUOTE
"The situation is the same than it has been throughout this season. I have a contract next season. In that sense, nothing has changed since the last race," Raikkonen commented on the preparations for the Singapore GP weekend.

"I have a contract with the team, but it still does it imply that I would drive there. Perhaps the team likes to discuss it with me at some stage. Everything can happen and the contracts can be changed, and many things can affect what happens at the end," The Finnish driver who is fifth in World Cup points said.

According to Di Montezemolo Brazilian Felipe Massa will continue next season in the team. Fernando Alonso is supposed to be considered as team mate of Massa, Alonso has been rumored to join the team for a long time.

McLaren team is said to be interested in recruiting Raikkonen as Lewis Hamiltons team mate, especially if Ferrari would pay him a salary of 2010.

"First we have to see what happens with Ferrari, and then considere what I want to do in the future. Let's wait until then and we'll see what happens," Raikkonen said about McLaren-rumors.

Raikkonen, however, in any case is continuing the F1 career. At least likely.

"Yes, it is likely and anything can happen. I don't care to worry too much. I think I will come through this whole thing just fine" Raikkonen believed.

i think his last comment is very interesting...could ''coming out just fine'' possibly mean getting the contract money from ferrari and the drive from mclaren next year as well??

I don't know in what tone they were talking about, but it seems to me that Lewis was giving the standard bollocks PR response, and Nico tried to make a joke with a "are you afraid of me?"

Don't see how could you possibly read in there that Lewis is blocking the move.

Are you saying that Kimi and especially his manager know he is going to another team but are playing the innocent card "we have a contract" in order to force Ferrari's hand and make them break the contract, thereby collecting his full 2010 Ferrari compensation+damages+his new team salary? i think this has seemed like a very possible scenario for some time now..

with the economic turmoil the f1 is in right now,i dont think his current salary with ferrari will be topped in recent years to come.so why give up on those 50 million .

im not too sure about his new team salary though.
