As much as I'd like to see it in some sense because he's such a nice guy, I can't see it happening.

Does anyone know the deal with Jenson Button's contract? He's driving for half the money his contract would have paid him this year. As I recall, that contract was signed near the end of last season and was for more than one year. So did they just tear it up and sign a one-year deal for half of what he was to earn this year, or is it a multi-year deal worth half the original values?

I think STR are far, far more likely to take Brendon Hartley.

He's Red Bull's next star of the future IMO.

They've taken the late decision to place Hartley in a WSR car this year, as well as his F3 Euroseries campaign.

He's already Red Bull's nominated reserve driver for the STR and RBR F1 teams.

This is all based on Hartley's phenomonal race pace. If they can iron out his mistakes he could be the next Vettel.

I think it is very telling that, despite winning the British F3 title and being also backed by Red Bull, Alguersuari wasn't offered an F1 test over the winter like Hartley was.

The chances of Red Bull replacing Webber would be extremely unlikely given his speed seems pretty much a match for Vettel. And why replace a strong development driver with one who's contributions to development are "it's shit" or "it's ok"? :\

This is quite difficult to predict because we don't know which teams will be desirable for drivers to move to. Brawn is a huge question mark for example - how good will they be by the end of 2009, and how much money will they have?

Hamilton's position with McLaren will depend on the WMSC verdict next week. If they get a multi-race ban, then, forget it for 2010 and beyond. He's as good as gone.

2009 would be Raikkonen's last season according to some here... crazy.

If Renault withdraws I think he'll be in one of the new teams, but I still think it's unlikely it withdraws. Anyway do I believe that Red Bull wants two starts in its cars, so I wouldn't be surprised to see Kimi going there.

Kimi is more of a driver for the STR team, a suitable replacement for Bourdais. Vettel and Webber are obviously more similar to top drivers as far as RBR should be concerned.

However, 3 Merc teams? I though they can supply engines to more than 2 and that Brawn this year was an exception to the rule, although I could be wrong.

Of course I enjoy the speculation as much as anybody else, but what I read from the opening reply is that both McLaren and Ferrari drivers are contracted for 2010.
