I think Kubica's going to McLaren in 2010 if BMW doesn't deliver him winning car in '09 is more probable than Rosberg's.

New or existing?

As much as I'd like to see it in some sense because he's such a nice guy, I can't see it happening.

Does anyone know the deal with Jenson Button's contract? He's driving for half the money his contract would have paid him this year. As I recall, that contract was signed near the end of last season and was for more than one year. So did they just tear it up and sign a one-year deal for half of what he was to earn this year, or is it a multi-year deal worth half the original values?

STR: Trulli, Alguersuari*

I think STR are far, far more likely to take Brendon Hartley.

He's Red Bull's next star of the future IMO.

They've taken the late decision to place Hartley in a WSR car this year, as well as his F3 Euroseries campaign.

He's already Red Bull's nominated reserve driver for the STR and RBR F1 teams.

This is all based on Hartley's phenomonal race pace. If they can iron out his mistakes he could be the next Vettel.

I think it is very telling that, despite winning the British F3 title and being also backed by Red Bull, Alguersuari wasn't offered an F1 test over the winter like Hartley was.

Providing Lola, USF1 and Prodrive all come in to F1 in 2010, who can we see getting the drives for those teams?

Another Alonso to Ferrari for 2010 story - this time from Berger

"Now I can say it: he was interested, but made it clearly understood that he saw 2009 only as a transitional year, because he already knew what he would be doing in 2010," Berger said in an interview with Germany's Sport Bild.

"Surely it's Ferrari," the Austrian winner of ten grands prix added.

He's stated that intention in the past hasn't he?

Raikkonen has certainly made all the money he'll ever need and would perhaps better enjoy putting his feet up.

Next year will be his tenth season in Formula One.

If we exclude Schumacher, and look at the other recent world champions who chose to leave, Mika Hakkinen retired after 10 season, Damon Hill after nine.

Slightly O/T but is there any reason why Ferrari have magically jumped up 2 constructor places in your numbering there fella? wink.gif

Also todays rumour suggest Prodrive / Aston Martin rather than ART.

It's great this like, 6 fresh places for drivers to prove their worth in F1. Well 4 if the USGPE slots are wasted on American drivers.

Well, he wouldn't be leaving willingly. I'm entertaining some hope that the public humiliation of being fired will make him reconsider this whole retirement crap. I don't know if anyone would bother signing him anymore but I'm feeling strangely optimistic today so why the feck not.

I'm going to go ahead and say...

Brawn
1. Jenson Button
2. Bruno Senna (So close in '09! I doubt Bruno has let F1 pass him by yet.)

Red Bull
3. Sebastian Vettel (Contracted.)
4. Mark Webber (He seems fairly content.)

Toyota
5. Timo Glock
6. Kamui Kobayashi (I'm going to wing it and say Trulli retires.)

McLaren
7. Lewis Hamilton (Wonder Kid isn't going anywhere soon.)
8. Gary Paffett (I like Kovalainen, but he is not McLaren material.)

Williams
9. Nico Rosberg (I think he is contracted for 2010?)
10. Nico Hulkenburg (Frank Williams pushes Nakajima out the door.)

Renault
11. Fernando Alonso (I think he'll press on at Renault.)
12. Romain Grosjean (Piquet does not deserve his seat.)

Ferrari
14. Kimi Raikkonen (No reason for change.)
15. Felipe Massa (No reason for change.)

Toro Rosso
16. Sebastien Buemi
17. Karun Chandhok (From the Red Bull Junior Team.)

BMW Sauber
18. Robert Kubica (No reason for change.)
19. Adrian Sutil (Heidfeld retires, Sutil is recognized. I hope.)

Force India
20. Giancarlo Fisichella (Will keep peddling around unsuccessfully.)
21. Vitantonio Liuzzi

Lola
22. Adam Carroll (He WANTS to be in F1.)
23. Davide Valsecchi (Why not pluck someone from GP2?)

USF1/USGPF1... Whatever they're called.
24. Marco Andretti
25. Rubens Barrichello (He'll want to hang on. Nobody else will want him.)

Prodrive, or whatever David Richards is up to.
26. Heikki Kovalainen (If bumped by McLaren, he'd have to go somewhere.)
27. Lucas Di Grassi (Richards wanted him for 2008.)

Some people above have mentioned Adam Carroll:

http://www.rte.ie/sport/motorsport/2009/0423/carrolla.html

Thursday, 23 April 2009 10:12

Irish A1 Grand Prix driver Adam Carroll has revealed that he is in discussions with a number of Formula One teams with a view to taking part in next season's F1 World Championship.

An Irish driver has not been involved in Formula One since the retirement of Eddie Irvine seven years ago.

Carroll has also been speaking to teams in the Indy Racing League, the American equivalent of Formula One.

However, Carroll said his initial priority was his current involvement with the Ireland team in the A1GP series, the penultimate round of which takes place the weekend after next at Brands Hatch.

Ireland currently trail leaders Switzerland by just two points after an impressive campaign.

The final race of the season takes place in Mexico City.

Jensen is far too loyal to do it, but a smart move for him would be to start negotiating for a drive elsewhere for next year. His stock is soaring at the mo, and I can't see Brawn turning out another winning car in 2010.

OTOH, Ferrari seats are booked, McLaren won't field 2 british drivers, the little verbal spat with Flabbio puts Renault off-limits. Maybe he's better off where he is after all.

Hamilton's position with McLaren will depend on the WMSC verdict next week. If they get a multi-race ban, then, forget it for 2010 and beyond. He's as good as gone.

Kimi is more of a driver for the STR team, a suitable replacement for Bourdais. Vettel and Webber are obviously more similar to top drivers as far as RBR should be concerned.

I enjoy your ideas and wish to suscribe to your blog.

However, 3 Merc teams? I though they can supply engines to more than 2 and that Brawn this year was an exception to the rule, although I could be wrong.
TT6
Of course I enjoy the speculation as much as anybody else, but what I read from the opening reply is that both McLaren and Ferrari drivers are contracted for 2010.

Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro
Ferrari F2010 – Ferrari 056
3. Kimi Räikkönen (contracted until '10)
4. Felipe Massa (contracted until '10)

Vodafone McLaren Mercedes
McLaren MP4-25 – Mercedes FO108X
5. Lewis Hamilton (long-term contract)
6. Heikki Kovalainen (option in long-term contract taken up)

Still most of the replies are considering who Alonso is going to replace in Ferrari.
