Being "very near" to a contract is not the same as actually having a contract. Jenson Button was "very near" to signing with Mercedes, but now he's at McLaren.

Delete USF1 all together cause it aint happening. Have they even built the car?

Reading Adam Cooper's blog, Colin Kolles suggested that the name may be changed to something "Spanish-America", which to me lends credence to the notion that Chad Hurley could invest in the team. 'Campos' needs money; Hurley has it. With Cabarante in control and Hurley fronting the oney, maybe we'll see a Cabarante-Hurley F1. Or maybe Cabarley F1. Hurlabante F1?

I like the name Carabante: care for a Carabante-Cosworth, anyone?

Or something totally different from what F1 has seen in the past, like 'Carabante & Kolles Grand Prix', much like the 'Riley & Scott' racecar manufacturer of old. :-)

I think 'Kolles & Cabarante' has a better ring to it. I don't know why. I was just thinking of Dreyer & Reinbold (or whatever it is and they've put the longer name at the end.

I think they should abandon this year and aim for 2011, and let Stefan race this season.

They can't be kicked out unless they're in violation of the rules.

Don't allow USF1 to miss any races. they sell their spot to Stefan GP and Lopez goes to Campos then we have 13 teams, 26 drivers all ready hopefully for the final test session.

• According to Adam Cooper, Karun Chandhok is favourite for the 2nd Campos seat.
• According to Joe Saward, there's a chance that US F1 and Stefan GP find eachother.

According to Las provincias (spanish website), Valles could be 3rd driver for Stefan GP.

Technically, they already have. They're most likely waiting to see if anyone withdraws or fails to show up before assigning numbers so as to cover any gaps in the grid. They won't want a repeat of 2008-2009 when there was no 18 or 19 for eighteen months.

And teams don't have to have numbering on their merchandise.

This is hilarious. Virgin drop Parente because of his sponsorship problems and who do they pick as a replacement? The single-seater king of phantom bank guarantees...

They probably don't need the money that much.

In that case they could have kept Parente.

Parente had a contract that specified he was to pay Virgin. He didn't.

He said he wasn't willing to miss a seat in F1. But in practice he did. A reserve driver nowadays do pretty mucho nothing. He can only wait to one of the official drivers to fail and wait like a hyena.
