Funny how the most complete driver in F1, well according to fanboys, Alonso was so stupid as not to lift off when it was yellows roflmao.gif
Justice.

Alonso got shafted. Ouch.
The Truth
So Alonso aborted his lap yet still gets the same penatly as the drivers who finished their laps and improved position? Totally unfair. Alonso should have finished his lap, and been higher on the grid.

He gets a penalty because he obviously didnt lift off in the yellow area. Maybe he just made a mistake later on and then tried to excuse himself and say he aborted his lap.
Once a liar, always a liar.

So it was still better for them to go full throttle and get a penalty than to lift and miss Q3? Brilliant.

Even if he didnt lift, he aborted the lap so he didnt gain anything. All the other drivers gained from not lifting, by getting into q3 so its totally absurd for Alonso to get the same penalty as them. He didnt gain anything, they did.

As a Ferrari fan i am happy this happened to Alonso now, in this dog of a car (just like Ferrari has now). This will (hopefully) learn him to not let this happen in 2010 when Ferrari hopefully has a winning car.

Not the point. The point is he didn't lift off in a yellow flag zone. Just because he aborted the lap doesn't make it OK.

At this rate, I think I'll be 18th.

So if he lifted off too late, when then? in the 130R? He obviously didnt follow the rules.

He has a history "lifting off" in yellow areas, I mean, he wouldnt be so stupid as to crash into parts of Webbers car in Brazil, would he? roflmao.gif
CaptainJackSparrow
Weak!

Barrichelo goes to what, 10th now?!

I still don't think it's justice for Honest Bob Kubica, who missed Q3 as a result cos he actually did follow the rules!

Kimi sets the slowest time in Q3 yet ends up starting in 5th lol.gif

You have to lift off in the yellow area. FIA had sufficient evidence he didnt do it, thats why he was given a penalty. Good decision and a fair penalty. Suck it up and accept it.

You accused him of being liar about what happened although you could have checked his comments after the quali. So nothing more that useless bashing from you.

Alonso's penalty was ok. Problem is that the whole procedure stinks. Brawns, Sutil were allowed in Q3 so the same penalty has less impact.

Now the drivers know what they have to do in case this happens again, completely ignore the yellow flags and go for their fastest laps.

Finally a penalty for Alonso, and he must be fuming. Serves him well for causing that MS penalty in Hungary, and now overtaking under yellows down.gif

The yellow flags are to ensure the saftey of marshals/other drivers. Anyone who doesn't lift deserves to be penalised. Lifting after the yellow flag zone or at the end of the yellow flag zone, isn't a get out clause.

Apparently Kovalainen changed his gearbox (yes, himself) and will drop 5 places too roflmao.gif

I didnt say it made it ok. Im saying it made it more ok than the drivers who didnt abort who gained from it. Typical incompetent decision from the FIA.

I was expecting a 10 place penalty and fine for those drivers that did not slow down. Poor effort, FIA.

Forget the mistakes,do you expect the moaning to not continue? Apparently two years in the jungle had changed him-noticed none of that today. First one to pick out Buemi for a little chat, first to moan to the media, first to jump at the chance to call McLaren liars and lied today. Rosberg had his lap shafted, but he shut up and moved past him to the weighing booth: too much to expect? Sucks to bash someone but getting tired of all the rotten fanboys around.

As for a ten place penalty,I don't think they could have done that: demoting five drivers by ten places would make a total mess...

Take responsibility without putting the focus again on someone who isnt involved ... Weak ...

I know it's useless saying this, but if Alonso thought there was a possibility of getting himself penalized, he wouldn't have protested. He obviously missed the first yellow flag for some reason.
stevvy1986
Simple. He was P15 originally. Take Glock out of the equation, as well as 3 drivers ahead of him ending up behind him due to 5 place penalties for ignoring yellow flags, and then Kovalainen behind him due to a 5 place grid penalty due to a gearbox change.
Pharazon
it's really not complicated, seriously

P15 - 5 penalties = p10

Gah... it's not hard to understand. The rules state "you must slow down and be prepared to stop"... it the stewards look at his telemetry for the back straight and see that he did not slow down then he broke th rules... it wouldn't have mede a difference if he'd gotten out of the car and donated it to orphans afterwards, he'd have still broken the rules (understandably I think).

This is all about safety for drivers, trackside marshalls and spectators... not about gaining advantage. Teflonso (not so apt now) wasn't savvy enough to back off and from lookig at the video only aborted the lap after he met Buemi in the middle of 130r and had to slow right down.

Alonso, who qualified in 12th, told Spanish television after qualifying that he was expecting to gain a few places due to penalties.

"I'm sure tomorrow I'll start a lot higher than 12th," he said.

Serves him right for sounding so confident.
