I couldn't believe it. While coming out of the pits he left room on the inside for Heikki to overtake him. How can a F1 driver be so dumb? This was a Badoer level mistake.

IMO Ferrari would be better advised to fire Fisi (or 'retire' him) and try out a GP2 rookie for the last races. Fisi is not quick and he makes these really dumb mistakes which makes you wonder how he became a F1 driver in the first place. confused.gif

That would be an idea, but should they not have Fisi in the car they'd be forced to use Badoer, since they have used the maximum of four drivers already this year and can't add any more.
raiseyourfistfor
At least he's not crashing like ALG or Buemi

Couldn't believe it either.

Great race by Kimi btw.

They can only replace Fisi with either Massa or Badoer, a team can field max 4 drivers / season.

Not if one of them is out on injury

Ferrari hired Fisichella so he could help the team getting those crucial WCC points. So far Badoer and Fisichella are even on points earned for Ferrari.

Kimi is still keeping Ferrari's WCC 3rd spot hopes alive, where are those Kimi bashers who question Kimi's motivation now? Even though he's not driving the red car next year.
Henrytheeigth
It's simple, he learnt that from Luca at Valencia!

I think they can use one more driver, because Massa out wasn't their decision. Anyway, it makes no sense to replace Fisi. There is no free driver who would get closer to Kimi than him. But yes, Fisi's racing skills are soft. He is rather a driver. This has become apparent over the years, not just today. In Spa he let Kimi pass easily... he cannot race very sharp.

They need to drop a box of crockery on Luca's foot, Massa would still be injured and get Fisi to actually resign or walk away, then claim force majeure.

Well yes that was a bit dumb. But you're being too harsh on poor old Fisico, after all he is a F1 race winner - not many people on this world can put that on their resume - and just a few weeks ago he put a Force India on the podium.

Indeed, if he did his job properly McLaren shouldn't have problems beating Ferrari in WCC.

You know whats sad? Ferrari may lose 3rd spot coz fisi aint a massa.. frown.gif

Looked like Kova remembered to use KERS out of the speed limiter zone and Fisi didn't?

I thought Ferrari were going to get a penalty for unsafe release there, he came out of the stop very very close to Kova.

No way! Just looked like it from that angle...

Perhaps Kimi and Massa are just that much better then Primer likes to give credit for, and Fisi is showing exactly how hard it is to match a top level driver in a team/car he knows with no testing. Sure, lets throw in a GP2 driver only to be a hazard for other drivers on the grid. drunk.gif

I think he forgot to use the KERS is what happened. Understandable when there's NO TESTING.

The rules say a max of 4 drivers, doesn't matter what the reason is.

I said he forgot to use it, not that he forgot HOW to use it.

He simply doesn't have the experience to realize that he can/should use it straight out of the pits, or to use it creatively as Kovi surely did there.

Just checked. Your right, hadnt noticed that bit before.

Yeah, drop Fisi and give a random race winner the seat for the remainder of the season. And he will show how exactly difficult to jump in a car and start performing without testing and car development. rolleyes.gif

Also, Fisis strategy was crap, he should have started with at least 20 more kilos, and that should have been enough for a point. Also, this doesn't seem too good for Kovalainen, how on earth Fisi managed to get that close to him at the first place?

I know Ferrari hasnt developed the car since hungary but they really need to take points off of McLaren and Kovy, he at least has to beat Kov. Kimi is doing his part by fighting with Ham. He left the door wide open.

Fisi haven't scored in his first 3 Ferrari races, so did Massa and Kimi. Yeah, surely his fault. And Kova's contribution to McLaren's tally is much bigger, ain't it? rolleyes.gif

But, but.... you forget the Ferrari is a rocketship atleast as good as the Mclaren currently. Right? wink.gif lol.gif

Indeed. Fisi deserves the drive and is showing exactly how difficult it is to adjust with no testing. But this also puts Badoer's efforts in a different light.
fisssssi
Hmm just posted about this in the other thread but this may have been the better spot.

Fisi did a pretty good job to make up the ~10s gap to Kova in the second stint and even be close enough to jump him in the pits! Bit of a shame he didn't finish the job...

Overall it seemed like the best and most consistent race pace he's found in that Ferrari so far.

Thats a quite tall order, considering the Mclaren is clearly faster ATM and Fisi was thrown straight into the deep end facing Kimi with no testing.

Give the guy a break. He should not be expected to beat Kovalainen considering the Mclaren is clearly faster package currently.

But Badoer was 2 seconds off the pace. Fisi is 0.5 secs off. And Badoer did a dozen mistakes in that two races, meanwhile Fisi had his first today since Melbourne. Actually Fisi is one of the most consistent and error free driver this season: no crashes, brainfades, etc. Not using a KERS in the pitlane maybe a forgiven one and doesn't deserve it's own bashing thread I guess.

Hate to laugh at these Ferrari test drivers and Ferrari management LDM&Domenicaly but.. roflmao.gif

2010 should have been Kimi and Fisi. Kimi with number one status.

Thats a little misleading me thinks. Badoer was not 2 seconds off the pace in his final GP. Fisichella also was much more then 0.5secs off Kimi in his first GP. smile.gif

In the Q, he was 0.4 secs off in Monza. Then he spent most of the race in the traffic. Fisi's worst was easily Singapore, but the car was hideously bad that weekend.

The Italians are back at Ferrari!

Even though there have been so many occasions you could say that this year, I will never get tired of it lol.gif

I can't believe how people could write some BS without shake a little his brain...

The Fisi race was very poor in the results but quite good in the race pace, even Domenicali an Dyer said that, there was a good step to be closer to Kimi. I really wonder if any of the other drivers (including the top drivers) could jump in this Ferrari and go quicker than Kimi after 3 races.

The Fisi skills are quite clear during 14 years in F1 with wins and 2 WCC + a lot of results in crap car, and if Ferrari choose him also as test driver and Ferrari man for the future probably could means a lot that your idiot words.

Who's saying he should go quicker than Kimi? No one has said that and no one could do it. It doesn't mean he shouldn't be able to at least fight for a point.
Wingcommander
Well you still can't ignore the fact that he gave Kovalainen a clear path to overtake him, just when he had passed Heikki in the pits.

Still, Fisi's been doing a solid job. Nothing spectacular though. 0,5sec behind Kimi is not BAD, considering the circumstances. But he was brought to Ferrari to score points and help Kimi in the fight with McLaren. So far Fisi's been quite far from scoring any points. Let's hope he'll still improve.
Verderer
Yeah, considering McLaren is the team they're currently competing with for points, Fisu shouldn't have let Kovy through like that. If he can't produce any points, the least he can do is to see that the other Macca stays behind, if possible. So in that regard his race was a disappointment. But he's slowly improving pace wise, he might even produce a point or two before the end of season, but there are no guarantees of it. Which only emphasises what a great job Kimi is doing with that car, especially considering they have shouldered him out for the next season. But Fisu needs to improve significantly, he needs to start getting those points.

derstatic
I think Fisi has been doing what can be expected of him. Today's action wasn't great that's for sure but I had expected him to be at around 0.4-5 off Kimi. This is the distance he usually had to Alonso at Renault. Thing was that back in 2005-6 that had Alonso P1 and Fisi P4 now with the tighter grids and much worse car in comparison that has Kimi P5 in Quallies and Fisi P15 and from there it's going to be very hard to score a point, especially as reliability these days are very good aswell. That Ferrari wasn't very good from the start, it's a bitch to drive and hasn't been developed for a while. Being realistic I don't think it belongs where Kimi is putting it. So to get to the point my analysis is that Kimi is flattering the car and doing one hell of a job and Fisi isn't putting the car far behind where it belongs. Currently I'd say Ferrari is has the fifth best car on average behind Bull, Brawn, Mac and BMW. Alonso and Rosberg, like Kimi are pushing above their weight and depending on track Toyota and FI can be up aswell. On any given day there should be 11 cars that are better than Fisi. His finishing positions 9-13-12 gives an average finishing position of 11.3. Pretty close to what one could expect.
