Former motorcycle racer Rob Bron is Monday at the age of 66 deceased. Bron was the first Dutchman who caused a furore in the 500cc grand prix world.
Between 1970 and 1976 Bron rode in the 500cc class. His best year was 1971, when he was the first Dutchman ever to reach the podium. Bron finished second at the TT Assen and ended the year third in the world. Best result ever to achieve by a Dutchman.
In total five times Bron drove to a podium place. A Grand Prix win he never succeeded. Bron drove in the 500cc class with Suzuki and Yamaha bikes. In 1973 he also rode in the 250cc and 350cc class. With a couple of years in between he raced until 1985.
From 1985 until 2004 Rob owned a small business selling parts regarding road racing and provided service at the circuits.
