I'd love there to be more races, but it's a fact that with so little spare time these days, especially on weekends, it's hard to devote 3/4s of the warmer month's weekends to the sport

15 races is a sane middle ground I think.

I think Jenson Button would have preferred a seven race season this year.

20 is the right number IMO, I think its important to get the balance of European/flyaway races right.

I'd really like to bote, but 15 is not there.

I'd like a maximum of 15 races, spanning from January (South Africa) to autumn (Watkins Glen, yeah). This way there'll be a lot of huge holes in the calendar that could be filled with a sportscar world championship that merits that name. F1 drivers could compete there as well, or whereever they like (Kimi could do rallye at the same time, etc.).

They design all year round anyway, go all over the world, no need to have a season any more. Two compulsory breaks during the year, some back-to-back races within the same continent.

Why be stingy? Just swap testing for racing.

I voted 16 and that's sort of the ideal maximum. With so many races you're doomed to lose peoples attention, because following Formula 1 will costs, let's say the season has 20 races, 20 times 2 hours on a Sunday and that's where a lot of people will lose attention.

I think with 16 races (or 14 or 15 even) you will get a lot more viewers and as said before, it would be a lot more special. I also tend to believe drivers would have a different approach towards races, as there arn't to many they're more motivated to make the most of it.

Specially with racing being as boring as they are now, following a whole season of 19 races, is a bit boring.

As comparisment, perhaps races could be a little bit longer (2,5 hours maybe)

Most of the costs of running a F1 team are fixed costs.
The more races per year the more TV revenue available.
I'm with Bernie on this one.
Look at NASCAR, a variable money printing machine.
The F1 teams are having it too soft. Boo Hoo, family time.
Let them take their vacation during the winter break.
If it is to be international, bring the races to more countries.
But that would be good for the fans, and we can't have that...

12 was enough in 70ies, should be enough now. gives bigger weight to each event and removes that "game over, start again" attitude some people seem to have.

There is no testing so as much as possible.

If the racing was better i'd happily say 20. But with it being so processional at the moment fewer races makes it more bearable.

I'd fancy 24 races. With the in-season testing ban it gives teams a bit more time to focus on the racing itself, and there could be more time for teams to prepare cars and do racing. I don't see this "family time" issue as a big problem, and the race team is present at all tests anyway, so to start the season off in February wouldn't be any problem. F1 teams exist to race, sop they would simply need to improve more staff present at races, and less at the base for all those stupid "Research & Development"!

Sportscar racing is even worse! Audi could only "afford" 3 (!) races during the entire 2009, while Peugeot seemed to have fatter wallets, since the French fellas did 5 (!) How about promoting motorsport, anyone?

I prefer 18 races. There are too many venues clamoring for events, so if we go with 15 we'll almost certainly end up with a schedule that's very light on classic European events. Anything over 20 is too many, and F1 would lose some of its exclusivity.

I think 20 or a few more. More back to back races to test teams mettle and give the BB posters more racing to talk about instead of analyzing every word from every drivers mouth and what they secretly mean (though I somehow think this would happen with 365 races). More races because I love watching them!

I voted 22, but whatever number they come up Britain, Germany, France, Monaco, Belgium and Italy IMO, should always have a race.

Why not 36 rounds? 1 week spacing, 1 week gap for 'mid-season' break. NASCAR always knows best. Testing can be completely banned apart from one 2-day test at Barcelona in the pre-season. On Fridays in FP1, the team's driver with higher championship position must be substituted by the team's reserve driver to promote young driver development. Where the reserve driver has attempted more than 25 GPs, they cannot drive the FP1 more than 10 times and a young driver must drive the rest.

Straight-forward 36 rounds: gets the championship out to new and returning fans in exciting places like Russia, South Africa, Argentina, New Zealand, Mexico, United States, Sweden and Indonesia. Why should fans from these countries miss out an accessible GP. Concentration of GPs in Europe (2 each in GB, France, Germany and Italy) to keep traditional European F1 fans happy too!

Teams would need two crews (possibly) and two sets of cars of course. But previously they used to run seperate test operation, so not un-doable.

More is always best... why would automakers not want all this extra promotion all year round? The cost of racing is much smaller than the cost of developing the car after all (homologation style restrictions would be needed of course), yet the value lies in the former and not the latter really.

20, although 18 and 19 would also be ok.

The problem with having more races is that you end up with less emphasis on points.

I agree with those sentiments, but my maximum would be 16 rounds.
