yep, great logic. Trulli was never a good driver. He was once a good qualifier but that's it. Nick always had great race pace and racecraft while his qualifyings were quite weak some times.

Jarno is not a worse driver than Nick, a good qualifier/bad racer and Trulli train both are myths, by his ability to qualify car much higher than it belongs. In overall race pace he was much closer to Alonso than Fisichella and Massa, only Lewis was closer. He was dominating Glock in Toyota and was faster than Button in Renault.

I think it's so iconic about Heidfeld that this topic's title, which was made in 2009, is still valid today.

Trulli was even beating Alonso in 2004 until Renault kicked him out of the team (and probably because of that...).
Trulli 46 pts, 1 victory, 2 poles - Alonso 45 pts, 0 victories, 1 pole.
Massa
Trulli was kicked by Renault because he doesnt want to resign a contract with briatore. Briatore wanted to be the manager of trulli, trulli didnt want that. So briatore kick him and put Villeneuve instead..

Yes, and in first part of season he was beating Alonso even more, but then his relations with the team deterionated... But anyway during his two seasons 2003-2004 he was much closer too Alonso , than Fisichella and Massa ever was, so it is very unfair to say, that Heidfeld is better than Jarno.

nick should do sportscars, i think he would really enjoy it. FIsi looks much happier driving ferrari gt cars than he did in F1.

Any News?
Nick doesn't seem to get a DTM seat. BMW plans to give the last seat to a younger formula driver and Mercedes gave Mika a test drive, the Finn seems to enjoy racing again.
Nick's official homepage wasn't updated since months.
Finally time to say goodbye, not only to Nick's F1 career?

BMW's line-up has now been finalised with no place for Nick.

However Motorsport-Total.com has listed him as a possible driver for Persson (one of the Mercedes teams).

(Thanks to Puxanando for posting this link in the DTM thread.)

Nick should go and do Indycars. He's got the talent to win.

That would be great to see, but he'll need some money with him.

There were already rumours on the matter a couple of months ago. But they also said that Heidfeld could be 3rd driver for Mercedes in F1 simultaneously.
I suppose, if he really manages to get the double job then he will not need to bring money.

I found a link to the old rumour:

Please, read the things in full!

The rumour adds a possible F1 3rd driver role in Mercedes (and that's just a rumour, yet), what IMO would help Heidfeld not to have the need to bring money to drive DTM. That's what I was talking about. smile.gif

Schumi is old.
Massa has looked poor
Webber has looked poor.
Hulk might not do well
Grosjean might not do well.
Vergne might not do well.
Pic might not do well.
He's probably faster than Trulli and De la Rosa and there are still 2 seats availeable.
I hope to see him back some time. Very under-rated IMO.

As a sidenote, it's interesting to see that Nick's official website still has him in full LRGP teamwear on the front page, despite the termination of his contract, whereas Kubica's website was all but blanked when his similar contract expired.
