Welcome to the new Racing Collectables forum.

As the title and strap line suggestion, this is somewhere you can show off collections you have made of motor racing memorabilia, show off the drawings you have made or even the computerized 3D models you have been working on.

But first, before you start showing your stuff, please introduce yourselves and tell us a bit about yourself and your passion.

Well this is a fantastic development! Thanks very much to Slick & Twin Window!

My name is Frank Hill, and I'm the guy who bothers everyone with incessant posting of new obscure books being released. I collect books on all forms of motor sports, plus magazines, plus plastic model kits. I've been doing this for over 45 years so, as you can guess, I have accumulated a lot. I have another odd collection -- jpeg images of books and magazine covers. I have a constantly growing data base in which I am trying to store information on all car books (except recent repair manuals) and magazines. If anyone has questions that such an obsession can answer, please let me know.

Hi, I am Rod Hunt and I have been posting on the Nostalgia Forum for a few months now, mainly about Le Mans and Sports Cars. Since 1992 I have owned Model Garage, dealers in model cars, a business which has had its ups and downs but, hopefully, today is starting on the upslope from its deepest down.

I used to have a trade stand at the Goodwood Festival, Coys and other historic events but not for several years now. Nevertheless I have probably met several of the posters here without knowing it!

My Name is Steve Griffiths, to be honest I'm not much of a collector of any sorts when it comes to motor racing, but I have a few base ball caps from various teams one of which is a Damon Hill Championship cap which I got signed (unfortunately by Frentzen as it was the only thing I had with me at the time)

I'm quite looking forward to seeing collections from other members to find what I'm missing out on.
Bjørn Kjer
Hi , I am Bjørn Kjer , you may know me from the Transporters thread amongst. I do and have allways collected in 1/87 ,now only racing models as well as transporters , trying to find possible rebuilding subjects. Unfortunately "my" thread on 1/87 has grinded to a halt , but who knows , this good idea here might awake some interest again. I also have a small collection of 1/43 racers and GTs from the 50's and 60's , but tend to let them go somehow , if anyone should be interested. See you around here!

I am Tom Gee from Florida and my model collection/obsession is cars driven by Dan Gurney. Some are diecast, others are resin or plastic; some are kits that I have built myself and some are already built. The scales range from 1/12 to 1/87. Right now I have 75 or so models with another 20 or more kits waiting to be built. I have most of the well known cars (F1 and USAC Eagles, Can Am McLarens and Lolas, GT40s and Cobras, etc) and I have built or modified many other less well known cars that Dan drove (Lancia Spyder, Porsche Speedster, Lotus 18, etc). Here is a link to some old photos of the models in a cabinet.

TNF has been invaluable in helping me research and find information and photos of many of Dan's cars, and some of the members here have also provided me with help. Hope you like what you see...

Hi everybody
I'm Igor Entin, live in Toronto, Canada and I'm big an of F1. I collect car models: Ferrari and all of Schumi, as well as autographed photos of Ferrari F1 drivers.
My goal is to find an autographed photo of every driver, either regular team driver, "one-timer" or privateer who sat in the scarlet car (well, with few notable exceptions, when car wasn't really painted red, like Ecurie Espadon, Ecurie Francorchamps in 50s, or NART in 64 or 65.
Also, I want to have collect models of all Ferrari cars, all variations taking part in F1 from 1950.

In any case, it's real fun, you can see some of my collection here: My F1 collection

I have close to 500 autographed photos and about 150 car models.

My 1:18 models are obviously Minichamps, Mattels, Exotos and CMC. B193 - B195 conversions are all bought from one wiz in Germany, most of Ferrari tobacco conversions are mine.

The 1:43s are Brumm, Minichamps, Microworld - Autostory, Vitesse - La Storia, few white metal model (also bought), few rare Villa Model - 1973 Ferrari 312B3.

Sources: models - 99.9% from ebay, autographed photos - some from few trusted sellers on ebay, few from other auctions (you cannot find Nino Farina on ebay, can you?), some obtained by mail. see the link above.

If you'd like to help me with few autographs missing in my collection, here is the list: Regular Team Drivers: Alfonso de Portago. Ferrari one-timers: Peter Whitehead - 1950 French and Italian GPs, Raymond Sommer - 1950 Monaco GP, Franco Comotti - 1952 French GP, Piero Carini - 1953 Italian GP, André Pilette - 1956 Belgian GP. Privateers: Hans Stuck - Ecurie Espadon, Max de Terra - Ecurie Espadon, Peter Hirt - Ecurie Espadon, Rudi Fischer - Ecurie Espadon, Rudolf Schoeller - Ecurie Espadon, Charles de Tornaco - Ecurie Francorchamps, Roger Laurent - Ecurie Francorchamps, Louis Rosier - Ecurie Rosier, Johnny Claes - ENB, Reg Parnell - Scuderia Ambrosiana, Alejandro de Tomaso - Scuderia Centro Sud, Giorgio Scarlatti - Scuderia Centro Sud

Hi Tom
You have a great collection. Very, very impressive. I'm a big fan of Dan Gurney as well, he is a great guy.

I was especially impressed to learn about "Gurney flap" and the fact the he "invented" spraying champagne on the podium. I have some photos autographed by Dan: "Gallery - from Dan Gurney" I have found the mailing address on his web site http://www.allamericanracers.com.

Hello all, my name is Steve Barnett. I don't have a collection of models, but I do have a collection of books and cuttings dealing with a multitude of racing and performance cars. It may be surprising to know that the reason I don't collect models is because I build them, and I just wouldn't know where to start, or stop, so the best thing is not to start at all!

I hope this new forum won't sideline collecting (of any sort) into a little ghetto, but as it has to be inhabited by genuine enthusiasts I will try to offer my experience if anybody has any questions on building techniques of model cars.

Hello all.

The collecting bug bit me early and by 1973 I was collecting anything that took my fancy. A chance read of Exchange & Mart (a UK sales paper for those of you out there in the rest of the world) introduced me to Grand Prix Models (then located in Radlett) and I was on my way down the slippery slope collecting rally models in 1/43 scale.

Since then I have added Spa 24 hours and BSCC (1963 to 1973) to my collecting themes and I now have over 500 models in my collection, the rally cars now restricted to the RAC Rally.

Hi, I'm Len Edwards. I live in England and my hobby is 3D formula One cars. I've also been known to dabble in building Tamiya and Tameo models amoungst others.

My aim is to model the most unusal cars that have raced, hence my liking for such cars as the Tyrrell P34 and the Brabham BT46B. I aslso enjoy creating represenations of the more "Normal" designs and have been know to try my hand at a bit of design work myself. Each year I attempt to produce an interesting design for comments and criticism.

I also collect Grand Prix's and have most of the races from the past 20 years. Am in the process of transferring these to DVD from VHS.... not a quick process but at least I get to see some of the great races again.wink.gif

Hi, my name is Paul House and i collect books, models and slotcars of AC/Shelby Cobras. My first Cobra model was a 1/24 plastic kit by Frog given to me back in the mid 70`s when i was a teenager, from then i was hooked.
I have now expanded my collection to models/slotcars of King Cobras which includes versions of my favourite car of all time the Lang Cooper.

I really enjoy reading about the guys who worked or raced for Shelby American back in the day which led me to start a new collection of models of cars raced by Ken Miles.
Still looking for a good picture of Ken Miles in the Triangle Special and does anyone know what colour the Talbot Lago was which Miles raced for Otto Zipper. Was it blue or Zippers favourite silver?

Hello everyone, I am very new here but wanted to introduce myself. I am from Lancashire but now live in London and I love F1 from the 1960's to 1993. After this I feel it all changed abit too much and well, got more dull and less romantic. Outside of motorsport collecting I am also intrested in the arts, history, socialising and cooking.

I am very impressed with your collections - what I like to collect are the Tamiya model grand prix kits - though I have seem some stunning models you guys have from manufactures I am not aware of. I would appreicate if someone could give me more information/links of where to get more model kits. I also want to collect old season reviews on DVD but this doesnt seem to be possible, and in an ideal world the BBC f1 highlights from 1979-93. I have found one chap who sells them but for £150 a season! argh. Would appeciate if anyone could point me in the right direction.

I am looking forward to mixing in the community and I am more than happy to join in any conversation.

Hi everyone,

I'm Hamish Robson, I've been a member of these forums for around 6 months

I collect Autocourse and have them back to 1969, Rallycourse (all issues), some diecasts (mainly Ford RS or competition cars I have personally been involved with).

I make plastic model kits, mostly Tamiya/Hasegawa/Fujimi F1, sports and rally cars plus motorbikes. also make/restore classic/collectible radio controlled cars from Tamiya and Kyosho such as Sand Scorcher, Rough Rider, Scorpion and Optima. I've been making plastic models for around 35 years.

I also post on TamiyaClub (R/C), F1M (F1 models) and Automotive Forums (general car modeling), and "lurk" on a few others!

Hi Antonio and welcome, I am quite new too but everyone is very friendly. One day I hope to have a collection as impressive as yours, I have very few DVD's at the moment but I am hoping to expand. Do you collect other things as well?
