Sorry, I know it isn't good topic to this forum, but I don't know where can i send this message.
I want to get membership in SAE or in FISITA, but I do not know which organisation is better. I want membership for discounts on books and technical papers and please tell me which organisation has better books(more professional books focused on chassis and suspension design and books about vehicle dynamics). Than do you know something about congresses? Are they good or not? And last, how much costs FISITA membership? English is not my first language, so I think I only did not find it. I think I can buy both SAE and FISITA membership, but tell me in which org. are you in?
Thanks

I'm not in either, but have often considered joining SAE, as it does pretty well represent my interests. SAE has better books, but they are often cheaper at Amazon than the member's price. SAE papers tend to be less worse than FISITA papers. OLD SAE papers are a goldmine, particularly for engines and NVH. I have never read a FISITA paper on suspension, tho I suppose there are some on Vehicle Dynamics I have read. Fisita seems more Euro centric.

The review process for papers in either organisation is pretty lenient, they are not academic papers.

As a retired member of the SAE I concur with Greg's comments. The review process of their papers seems to depend on the reviewer. I found that most papers were somewhat superficial, probably a result of the legal "sword of damocles" pertaining to industrial espionage and ccompetition. There are rare gems but they tend to hard to find. As a UK engineer working in the US I found it very constricting in what to put into a paper and how to express what I wanted to say without having the legal eagles jumping down my throat.

As for FISITA, I have very little knowledge of them. The only brief experience I have of them goes back to the 1960's when my boss, at that time, presented a paper on an air suspension system.
